I have to go see my DS in his play at 2pm so will be rushing home to get tea sorted before going to work this evening
Hope everyone is having a nice sewing dayGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

We had a power cut today, so that put my sewing plans alittle awry.
I used the time to use scraps to make "ribbons" of fabrics on to a background, ready for making a Heart from later. A project I saw in my Sew Mag.
Then I cut out a couple of bags from remenants I had lying around.
I also cut out the lining for my Maxi dress I want to make next week.
Luckily the power then came back on. So I sewed the ribbons of fabric onto the backing, and then I have stopped as I was hungry. Soup for lunch, and now I have just over 30 minutes before its time to go and get DGD and her mother for the evening.
Then I should be able to get some extra sewing done, as I wont have to do the bedtime rituals.
It would be good to get a few bits more cut out ready for tomorrow to sew when I have DGD back in Nursery. I would like to keep my dress for making in the evenings, rather then in my alloted work time. But we will see, as I want to wear it next week for the weekend when I go away for the birthday.
I will take pictures when I get time. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Has anyone made a watch strap? Hubby is really rough with his watch strap....yanks it.....he is clumsy/accident prone anyway. He has broke yet another leather watch strap so I thought I would have a go at sewing one. Let you know how I get on.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

wow, i cant believe i've only just found this part of the forum!! I love sewing- mainly making clothes from vintage patterns. I only took up sewing last year but do as much as possible with a full time job. So far i have made 2 maxi dresses and 2 day dresses and 2 evening dresses that are of an acceptable standard for wearing in public
wish i had more time to spend on it all- roll on the weekend! glad to find lots of like minded people hereCar Boot Queen!!
Clothes Golden Rule: Never pay full price unless it is an utter bargain in the first place!
Sales, boots, charity shops, ebay- why would anyone ever pay full price for anything??!0 -
Hi all I'm going to a Christmas meal (sorry I know it's only July but need to plan ahead - it takes me so long to do things) and it looks like it's going to be evening dress. I have been looking for patterns for, shall we say the fuller figure (haha) and stumbled across the following site.

Not sure if it's been listed before, I haven't seen it before. Thought it may help someone.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Morning all
Found a nice stall at a market yesterday and bought two lots of fabric from there for £2 a metre. One is a small print flowery viscose which I am making OH another shirt out of for his birthday next month. I cut it out last night and started sewing this morning after he went to work. Have got as far as putting the sleeves in and sewing up the side seams. Next is the cuffs which are already made up, just need to be sewin on the sleeves. I need a bit more interfacing for the front bands so trip up the town later on to get some. There is a pice left over which with a bit of luck might be big enough to make my daughter a summery top out of too.
Other piece of fabric is a large print flowery fabric which I think is a georgette, its a bit see through but will make a lovely top. Just got to decide which one of my tops to use as a pattern for it.
The lady said she is there everyday except Sunday but not too sure about this as we go to the town quite often and havent seen her there before today but will keep my fingers crossed we find her again.
I also managed to sew the binding on the quilt I am making at the moment and started to hand stitch it down around the edging. Just got a side and a bit to go on that so hopefully will finish that off tonight. Thats going in my Folksy shop, then I am going to do what Mooloo said and concentrate on getting some smaller bits done to fill up the shop a bit more. Had a lady message me the other day saying she liked my things especially the school bags and was going to save the shop so she could see what I was putting in it. Pity she didnt just buy one of the bags lol, still nice of her to message me.0 -

Welcome prettyflamingo!,
I hope that you find a friendly and helpful bunch on here. We are all keen to support each other and to SEW when ever we can. Althought there are a few other projects that some people delve into as well.
