Hello expert sewing ladies (and gentlemen!). I need some advice - I need a fancy trim for the empire waist of my wedding dress. I've asked this question on The Sewing Forum, but no joy there. I've found lots of American websites that sell the sort of thing I'm after, but I think I need to see and feel it. And, it's one of those situations where I will know exactly what I want when I see it.

So, to cut to the chase, what I'm asking is if any of you know of any suppliers of fancy diamante/rhinestone,beaded/embroidered trims or ribbons either in the Manchester or Cambridge areas? I've tried Abakhan in Manchester, but they don't have anything. I'm no good at sewing myself so I can't make it myself!

Thanks in advance for your help.

PS I love the pictures of the things you all make. Lovely handbag ailsb1!

This London store is very well known for its trimmings and bridal fabrics, http://www.macculloch-wallis.co.uk/

havent had time to flick through the site though so not sure if they have a sample service but one to keep in mind if all else fails.

I started on a new quilt yesterday morning, have some blocks ready for trimming, only done squares again but going to put the strips round them this time for a change.

girls - can anyone tell me if I am using one thread colour to go under the fabric and one to go on the top - the one I want underneath - is that the one in the spool under the footplate - seems logical???? I have a quilt that has a burgundy backing sheet but mixed topping! Thanks

    Yep - it worked!!!! Yay!
