  • Hi Sharon

Do you buy your fabrics locally?? if you do, would you mind telling me where? I can't seem to find any that aren't silly prices.

I have just started making some hammocks for my pet degus. This is their cage. (sorry I can't fit it in one photo.) I am quite pleased with them considering I have done them all by hand.

Ailsb, that bag is absolutely fantastic. I think it would be a good seller if you were into selling things? I missed the discussions about a new sewing machine, what did you go for in the end?
Liana, cute beasties :) I like the fabric you've used. Very nice.

I was looking at a youtube tutorial yesterday and the lady was using a rotary cutter, cutting mat and a great big ruler, and I was amazed. She was cutting strips for bias binding and just lined the ruler up at 45 degrees and whoosh it was done! I can just imagine how long it would take me to do with scissors and how wonky they would be.

I know these things have been discussed before so I'll look back and see what was recommended because I must get them.

Ailsb your bag is great, I love the colours.

I would recommend getting an Olfa cutter and Olfa self healing mat. There are others out there which Im sure are good too though - but dont buy really cheap ones as they wont last.

Kat, those little beds are really cute! That cage is massive! Is it a really big hamster?

Good morning! yesterday I tried to make this http://thimbleanna.com/?p=566 and could not figure out the end of the instructions, it annoyed me so much as my DD wanted it for her holidays a purse and mobile phone holder.. went to work last night and had a brainwave came home at 11.30 and attempted to create my own version of it combining the makeup bag/ pencil case tutorial and was pleased with the results but its too small for her Iphone so gonna try it again today, no good at maths but luckily i had written down the measurements I used to make this one so now gonna figure out how many inches to add for her Iphone to fit into it

She picked the fabric and i took a mini heart attack as it was the new one i had just bought on friday!! she wants wash bag, makeup bag, passport cover purse and luggage tag with it! other dd chose the cup cake one for twins they have completely different taste!

not managed to do any sewing yet, it was "tidy up" time and this computer wastes so much time cos I was blog hopping for the last hour and came across this tutorial for a maxi dress http://www.makeitlovely.com/2011/06/beginners-dress.html
its given me an idea of changing the top part of my maxi dress to a long sleeved one

    here is another one
