Hi, just posted this but suppose its better here with you lovely ladies.

I have bought my niece a little sewing machine to put away for Christmas and would like to make her a hamper of felts etc. I have got her cottons and glue and scissors etc but she has been making ipod covers and phone covers at school out of felt and has been putting cute liitle embellishments on like felt owl and things. I have looked online and cannot see anything like this. Could someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks :D

Hi Wendy, The Works have loads of embellishments normally on a rail in the middle of the shop. Poundstretcher also have packs you can buy with sequins, buttons, bows etc in them. If you check ebay as well Im sure you will find something there.

Lovely makes everyone. Ive still nothing to contribute at the moment so havent been posting but I have as always been checking in every day to see what you are all up to. Ive been doing my hexie cushion whilst watching telly in the evening and Ill be honest and say Ive hated every minute of stitching it together. Its definately not my "thing"!! :o Hope you are all well. x

Yippee I just got a new sewing machine, Janome Memory Craft 5200. I am so excited as I have wanted a new machine for a long time, 34yrs since I last bought one. I decided to also buy the walking foot and extended table.

Right, ok, lesson have been learnt from the shirt recon.
    1. Measure twice cut once
    2. Relax do not panic
    3. DO NOT sew whilst the kids are starting WW3 as mistakes are inevitable.

I used one of DS's shirts as a guide cut round the sides and straight up to the top
So that I was using the original buttons and collars. For the sleeves I kept the part that
was finished and had detail and just made a smaller version.

The main time taken was in getting the sleeves correct.

Great looking shirt, brilliant idea. Used to make my kids shirts a looonng time ago, never thought to use dad's old shirts tho.

    Genie the shirt looks great!

Claire I love the details on your bag.
Last week I was thinking about your friend displaying your aprons in her shop, so I took some of my 'wares' to a local shop and she liked my card holders and brooches. She said if I made four of each she'll display them and see how they go.
    Here are the card holders

    Fab makes again everyone!
I know it's really late but I'm just on my way up to bed now having stitched up another three of my quilt blocks. Just 5 blocks, 12 setting squares and the sashing, backing, binding and quilting to go now. There's no way I'm going to be finished by Wednesday but I'll try desperately to have all of the blocks done by then to show off to DH :o
