My Mum knitted me a coat when I was a kid. It was a thick knit in red wool with wooden toggles. Looking back, it was quite cool, but I HATED it! Finally, after many, many wears, I got carsick whilst wearing it, threw up all over it and I never had to wear it again ;)

I'm nervous today - it's my friend's wedding and I've made a dress for me to wear, with matching bag. It's the first item of clothing I've made and I'm worrying that people will look at me and think, 'What on earth is she wearing?!' I'll have to start drinking now and then I can go out all confident. Hehe...

I think it's a free listing weekend on ebay, for those who are decluttering.

thanks Hart - I took out the bobbin holder AND managed to put it all back together and that seemed to do the trick and stopped the bird-nesting.
The machine must of taken a little knock or something (easy enough with my two running around!) Still having tension problems though - the bobbin thread is too lose. HAve found the tension dial but don't seem to be getting anywhere...should I be going towards the + or - to tighten the bobbin?? I never remember.

Shame about the DS dress Irishgirl. I remember my mum knitting me a crop top for Christmas one year, My fav colour is red but I am yet to see a nice shade of red knitting wool, think I wore it once on Christmas Day and then it sat in my Wardrobe for at least 10 years as I couldn't bring myself to charity shop it!

I have just had a read of my manual and it says to make sure the bobbin is wound correctly and also unrolls in the right direction.
If tension is too tight (loops on surface) reduce tension to a lower number, if too loose (loops on the back) turn dial to higher number.

I also had a prob with one of my bobins, machine did not like it so it could be a duff bobbin also some thread can cause problems.

Sorry Im not much help but I will have a better look at my manual and see if there is anything else that could cause your probs :o
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

I like the bag Claire, I have some sirts in my stash to do a similar thing.

I am trying the shirt recon at the moment but all my scissors seem blunt I swear someone must have been
cutting paper. The hardest part of the shirt for me seems to be the arm holes but I am not giving up

^^^^^ I'm not sure my family find it very pleasurable ;)
Love all the makes from yesterday, very stylish.
Have just resewed block number 5 and it sits flatter. It's not perfect but it's far better now and will be easier to sew into the quilt top.
Must go and get dressed :o how is it possible to be up for so long and not be dressed yet :o although I have done quite a bit since this morning. Need to harass the little people to pick up their mess so we can go and meet friends at the park. Also must paint my toe-nails before I go out. Can't bear sandals with unpainted nails!
This evening I will be able to have uninterrupted sewing for a good while so hope to get 1-2 blocks stitched. Would be well chuffed if it was more but I think I'm onto tricky ones now.
Cheerio peeps, hope you enjoy the sun.

Oooh, irishgirl, is your back better?

Tamster hope the de fluffing works mine is a brother that happened to me and I left it in to get fixed and got it serviced the same time and it cost me £60:eek:

I made a gypsy dress yesterday and DS hates it!! :(
It was hotfix I think, My friend brought them up last night from her other shop, it was on like a plastic sheet that I put on the bag, but a towel over the top, ironed it then took the plastic off.

I make jewellery mostly and have tables at craft fairs, but I'm finding more people are doing jewellery now and the competition is stiff, so I thought I would add more variety to the table to bring people over to look.

My next door neighbour has had a wardrobe clear out, and said I can go through the 5 black bags to see if there is anything I can use for sewing before it goes to the charity shop :) what things do you think I should look out for whilst rummaging ?:)

Mens large dress shirts would be good can make smaller kids shirts or bags from these also. Duvet covers if not too worn, anything that catches you eye.
