Jeez this thread is moving at a quicker pace every day!! Im struggling to keep up. Miss Pixie, I subscribe to Sew Hip. Used to subscribe to Sew but find Sew Hip better for some reason. not sure why. Its more my style of sewing so reckon you just need to go with what suits your tastes.
Hart, got your pm. Have pm'd you back. Cheers again.x

I have sewed up my quilt bock and once again it's too blimmin small! Gah!
I can trim it down to 30cm all round but I can't see where I'm going wrong. If I trim it down to 30cm then I'll have to trim all the blocks down to 30cm so that will throw out the sashing but I think that's what I'm going to have to do and figure out the sashing when I eventually get there. It's so frustrating isn't it. That'll teach me for starting with the hardest types of stuff rather than trying to make a quilt with big squares of fabric.
Anyhoo, here's a pic. I like it, just need to trim all the straggly bits now.
It's pink and green. Fabric from ebay and fabricland. Now I'm off to check back over the previous posts. Ooh, how frustrating for you Kaz. It's looking good though.
I bought a couple of quilt covers from the cs the other day and I was thinking how I could use the popper closure for anything. I had the idea of making bags with part of the bottom of the cover so that a popper fastening was incorporated. Here's a photo of one bag from each cover and another to show the fastening (you can just see it in the centre) and also to show the other side of the blue bag which is white because it was a reversible cover.0 -

I've been to two different car boot sales looking for ties and didn't see a single one at either. Not one :mad:0 -

Kaz what size squares are you using to make the triangular bits? Are you cutting out a square the same size as what you want in the corners and then sewing across the diagonal? I know you need to have a bigger square for the trianglular ones. I used them on my sister's oriental quilt. I cant remember how much extra you have to leave for the seams when you do them but it is more than you first think. This might be why the blocks are coming up small.
Just had a quick Google and found that you need to cut the squares 7/8" larger than the size you need it to look when sewn into the block. Not sure what this is in metric but if you have a ruler you should be able to find out. The square corners you would only need them to be 1/2" bigger as this would give you a 1/4 seam all round.
