    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to report about the sewing group we had this weekend : ) It went well! We all enjoyed it and are having another meeting in June, we are looking to have it every 2 weeks, which is excellent. Must admit I didnt get much sewing done initially as we were talking away, but have to get to know each other ;)

Recommend other people setting up a group in their area. Its great to social sew!

freudianslip when you add the zip make a sandwich with the lining, zip then outer fabric so the fabrics are covering the zip and the fold back the right way after sewing.

This tutorial explains it well although it isn't to make a pencil case it is the same principle: http://www.skiptomylou.org/2010/04/27/pleated-pouch-tutorial/

I've got it now thank you! Just waiting on the zip. I guess it will be much easier once I practically begin than just trying to visualise.

No worries freudian it took me a while just to get my head round it but once I did it it was really obvious :)

I keep wanting to buy a sewing magazine to have a looksee what they are like but a lot of them are really expensive! Which one is everyone's favourite? Something to bear in mind when I finally do buy one.

The only one I buy and have saved each month for me is Sew Hip as its just sewing which is what Im mostly interested in (and can do :rotfl:) but every now & then I will buy a craft one as you say they are so expensive and mainly for card crafters :( Im not going there as my mum does cards and Ive seen her craft room

Sew Hip has lots of different sewing projects as well as clothes :)

Sew hip every month has either a childs item of clothing to make of womens but they also have home and bag makes and a soft toy + loads of advice :D I think it is why I like it so much :D
