thanks for everyone who gave me advice on the wadding a few posts back. i went with a 4 oz in the end. as i wasn't sure i'd be able to work with a 6 as it is very thick.
i've made the front of my quilt and hopefully i'll get the rest done tonight. fir the first time since hubby and i have been together ( 10 yrs fri) he is working nights this week!!!!! so i'm gonna have alot of lonely quiet time when kids in bed before i go to bed. so i'm planning on getting lots of crafting done so i don't miss hubby as much. i've got 2 hand bag charms i've already made but they only took an hour. so i think i'm gonna buy a ball of wool tomoz and start to try to crochet as well.
i'll post pictures as i go.0 -
I hopefully will have some new material today, So I'm going to see if I can make a few bits and have a crafting day. Also my knitting machine spares have come so I can mend my knitting machine (haven't used it for 17 years) and see If I can get it working
Gosh, I haven't used mine for over 20 years now! Have 2 - A Bond with ribbing attatchment thing that I only ever did a trial piece on (the ribbing thing that is - knitted for DDs and OH as well as myself before I got the ribber), and a Toyota that I won in a competition.(My Mum just said "shame it wasn't a car!") Went to classes after I won the Toyota, still have all my notes in a "safe place"
plus the tutorial stuff that Toyota sent me too, though suspect some of that may be on cassette tapes. Hoping to get at least one of the machines set up when we move to the house we've been having renovated since September last year. Good luck with getting your machine working! I'll need to give mine a good clean and a service. Hope I've got some spare needles!

Oh your going to be busy then
I have spent the last 2 hours cutting out squares, I now have 18 blue ones from an old curtain and 14 from the scrap material from the winnie the pooh aprons.
I have just invested in a rotary cutter and a quilting ruler and cutting mat, measuring and cutting by hand has taken ages.
Just need to work out what to make with them nowBoiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Those funky fabrics can be found at fabricland. They sell for £3ish per meter for 100% cotton and there are loads of fab prints. I bought the pink and white skull and cross bones fabric for DD's dress that I've been too busy to make for her
(well, I went to measure her the other day and she said no, have a rest. Meaning, Mum, I'm trying to watch TV!).
I was looking at all the fabrics last night at work and drooling over them.
I also found a lush lush dress on burdastyle but don't know if I'd ever have the bottle to wear something like that out in public on a not fancy day outDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

These fabric shops are getting the best of meI love looking at all the fabrics and wishing I could just stay at home (when I work and not on the sick :rotfl:) and sew but if I don't work I can't afford the fabric I do buy
Another fav of mine is The Cotton Patcheverything you need for quilting

Does anyone have any suggestion for easy day dress patterns? I quite like the idea of a maxi dress but I am so fussy when it comes to clothes it is hard to find a pattern I like. I really shouldn't be adding to my to do list but I want to make a dress!Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!

I am looking for my first sewing machine.
I would like to make things using recycled materials like jeans so the machine needs to handle denim.
My sister is pregnant with her first baby and I would love to make a cot quilt and decorate plain baby gros with patches etc..
I have seen the singer 4220 on a couple of websites for £149 but the companies don't get good reviews and in argos its nearly £200!
Has anyone got this machine? Will it cope with the denim?
It looks nice and simple to use. Ideally my budget is around £150 Thanks for your advice.
