lovely cushions.
Been talking to mum about patchwork, and have decided as my throw on my settee (sits on the top to stop the wall and the settee rubbing together) is wearing thin, I'm going to have a go at making a patchwork one in teal and brown to match the wallpaper and if I'm really clever some cushion covers to match.
Then a patchwork Quilt in burgundy and cream ready for when my bedroom is re decoratedas I have burgundy and cream wallpaper
So if anyone comes accross any scrap material in those colours can you please let me know where?
These came to mind:

I had thought of using shirt fabric for my quilt hart but clothes are ever so expensive at my local charity shops. Saying that though, I suppose it's still cheaper by the metre than cotton.
I ordered a metre of cotton last night from ebay and hope it'll arrive soon. Have DS home again today following the dentist. So have been playing scrabble. He's now watching playhouse disney
I thought I will buy one or two each week Im in town as they are not too bad in some of the CS's I go to and with this quilt you can use most of the shirt so not too bad
Im waiting on some fabric off ebay too(must not buy any more :rotfl:)
Mooloolove the cushions
your bag and stick bag are lovely too
:T realy missing my sewing now
I think I might try and do some later as my hand is a lot better feeling, just bandaged, and it is my left hand and Im right handed so I don't realy have to use that hand much :rotfl:
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Oh please be careful. Would you not be better looking up patterns and books and that sort of thing, ready for when the hand is properly better? Hate you to undo the surgeons good work!
They were easy envelope style with a one I sewed a patch of French fabric on the front, and they both have 4 small buttons/holes to do them up, as the old envelope ones I had done keep coming apart at the join without any fastenings. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Wow! You got a lot of money for your dress! Maybe because it is like one of these "Get Cutie" dresses!0 -
Thanks to everyone for the advice around sewing books. I have been using the internet up until now for tutorials / explanations of terms and youtube is good for demos. I've had some books from the library too, just thought it would be nice to have a book at home for reference and to peruse over. Keep getting drawn to a Martha Stewart one on amazon - encyclopedia of sewing and fabric crafts. Very tempting!
Fantastic news on your dress irishgirl! Lovely makes MissPixie and Mooloo0 -

Mooloo love the cushion covers and the walking stick bag.
I hope to make a dress tomorrow once I get the living room sorted, its a tip!!I am determined to lose weight!:kisses3:
Weight loss so far 2 stones 6lbs!! :j:j0 -
I'm now wondering, irishgirl, if you are thinking of making more of this style dress?
How much fabric do you need roughly for this dress as it is the type of dress I like to wear myself. I wonder if it would have made as much money had it not been in such a fabulously cool fabric?
Well done though.
Well, needless to say, I didn't get any of my cutting out done. I must try to get it all started tomorrow afternoon when MiL takes the kids out. I'm reckoning that I should just go ahead and start cutting out the star patches while I wait for my fabric to come from ebay and then I can make up the other patches too.
Hopefully then I will be able to just sit and sew it all together over a few days and I will be able to put the cutting stuff away fairly easily.
It's just time that is short at the moment but I would so dearly love to be able to have at least some of it done for our wedding anniversary which is only 3.5 weeks away.
I'm never going to get any of it done though am I if I just sit there being too scared to cut the fabric!

Good morning everyone:think: You are right Mooloo
I was feeling sorry for myself again
I have decided today to cheer myself up is to sit at my work desk and sort my fabric out and write down some ideas that I can make with that piece of fabricand put the scraps into colour ready to get going when I can sew again
Until I saw your dress irishgirl I was not keen on that fabric but now I have so many ideas I could use it for:rotfl:
Happy sewing everyoneGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing
