I fell in love with this fabric, and I really want a bag made with it! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190529758588&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1954wt_1057
I use 18mm magnetic fasteners when I make my Amelie bags and it seem fine for that sizeI have also used them for the Buttercup bags

Jonty,
Got this (below) from web (I thought tinfoil would do it but thought I best check before I posted!)
Fold a large piece of tin foil into multiple layers. Cut repeatedly through the foil, using the entire length of the blades. This will temporarily sharpen the shears.
Cut a sheet of sandpaper. Using the entire blades, not just the tips, make numerous long cuts. The sandpaper grain must be extra fine, or it will cause further damage. Rough sandpaper will pit and scratch, rather than sharpen, scissors.0 -

You poor thing. Wont be long now until you are back up and running again. My sewing machine is still MIA so Im not doing any either0 -
Good morning :hello: and thanks for all your replies, I will try them.
I'd like to be able to use the scissors as they were my mums and it's nice to think I can make use of something that she used to use a lot.
I've never really done any needlework (had a bad experience with a nightie at school when I was 12 and it put me off sewing) but I have been 'volunteered' to help with some small craft items for a fair. We're trying Lavender bags and I said I would cut the nice, fancy zig-zaggy edges, if someone else did the sewing.
Thanks again0 -

The seller is fast and friendly and Ive had no probs with the fasteners
I always iron a small sqaure of interfacing on the wrong side of the fabric where the snap is going to give it a bit more strengthGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing
