I found this tutorial the most helpful in making them :)
    http://katafalk.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/a-simple-skirt/

It has taken me a while to figure out how much fabric to use but I think I get it now because it depends on how gathered I want it and heavier fabrics need much less fabric unless you want a super full skirt!

I am very excited! I have vouchers for £80 worth of fabric :D

Now all I need to do is decide what I want to make and what material I need. Think I would like to make a few tote bags as I use them a lot and I also want to make my first dress. I have only ever bought fabric scraps before so I have no idea how much fabric that amount of money will get me (I know it depends on the type).

The vouchers have to be used in full so I cant get a few bits here and there.

I also have made a skirt similar to Miss Pixie, if you follow my blog you may have already seen it! It was for my friends daughter who wanted a skirt the same as her big sister and couldn't find one in the shops.

I also made one in red too, but didn't take a photo!

    Good makes everyone!

Hart - I saw your hand on you blog :( Hope it heals soon!

Work commitments are stopping me from sewing atm! I have so much marking & preparation to do in the evenings. (and I only work 3 days!) I also have job applications to do as my current contract ends at the end of the school year (July) and schools advertise now for September.

However, I am making good progress on my Nieces quilt, hoping to finish it in half term - along with my "homework" for the "quilting-on-the-go" course. I have to make at least 6 blocks so that we can put them together using the method that Carolyn Forster has developed. I have finished one so far:eek: I am using my stash of vintage linens from CB & CS. Just tray cloths and hankies, I couldnt bare to cut into a tablecloth!

That's a great skirt. I've just made my granddaughter a bean bag and some cushion covers with that same material. Your skirt reminds me of my childhood in the late 1950s when my Aunt made me a skirt covered with appliqued musical notes - no printed fabric like that back then ;) I loved that skirt :)

My Friends daughter chose the fabric herself, so she obviously has good taste!

    Thanks
