Not sure if this is the right thread, but last time I did this sort of thing was in the seventies, now it seems it is hard to find shops in the high street that sell fabric.Where can I find a pattern or a kit to make a rag doll type toy,or any books you could recommend.I have a bit of spare time at the moment0

Alimarcle - Thank you! so much for finding me the card "Easter" eggs. They are just what I am looking for.
I wanted some to cover in fabric, like in the "Springtime" book, so they didn't have to be patterened, but am just so pleased you have found some. :j:j:j
Will post my efforts if they work out.0 -
Dora - I love your angels. They must have taken you ages! :T:T:T
I am a complete novice but thought I'd have a go at the sock monkeys.... I loved making them, although had a slight mishap with the first one (pink) as I did her body upside down which meant her head was wide open and I had to sew it up after I'd done everything else. Hopefully I can manage to paste a pic below so you know what I mean...
I then pinched one of my little boy's new pairs of socks (naughty mummy
) and used those to make a mini sock monkey. My little lad (who is two) loves them and I'm sure he doesn't mind

in-the-beach-hut I love your baby monkey he has a sweet little face.
I made my first one a couple of weeks ago and it was a bit of a botch job, but you learn really quickly what to do. Your first attempt was much more pleasing on the eye than mine!! I love the socks you used for your pink one.You can stand there and agonize........

i love the sock monkeys and the angels.
I find it helps when making faces to stuff the nose with some clay. But I guess blue tack would work just as well. Fill the nose with it to make the shape and then stuff firmyl behind it.craft craft craft!0 -

Well my little machine has had it
, I did buy it cheap online but was told today by a repairman that it would cost more to repair than the machine originally cost me.
Anyway husband will let me buy a new one :jwith a budget of about £500
does anyone have any recommendations?
It would be used for various home furnishings and some quilting. I have seen a Juki HZL-E61 which looked good but don't really know much about the Juki brand.
