kaz they sell it on ebay for 9.99!! Unsure if Im going to do it and having to be discipled as have spent 30 on fabric for my throw but would love you to be a guinea pig for the quilt!!
Re the templates I am using a plastic sheeting for my hexagons - various reasons - I got a pack for 7.99 but a single template would have been 9.99 and this was I get loads. I use rotary cutter for squares/triangles but sometimes easier to use scissors for hexagons etc! I just got the size hexagon I wanted, printed and traced onto the plastic template sheet and cut two out!
If anyone is interested in a plastic one I have a 24x6 quilters square going spare - its not omnigrid and I found it more difficult to read (am mathematically dyslexic so numbers flummox me at the best of times lol!) -let me know if interested!
Like others not up to dresses yet but tbh I rarely wear them! Well done those who have ventured into clothes making!
Don't you find that you cut the edges off your templates when you're cutting? That's my concern espescially with freehand cutting.
Once I've got it sorted out, I'll try the curve seam sewing. I'll let you know when I've tried it!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

This website is fab! :T
The reviews all say that the bodice comes up big so think I will go for a smaller size after all. I might have to start sooner after all, as everyone is saying what a lovely dress it is.
It's this one http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/reviewgallery.pl Simplicity 2638. And also 2362 but there are not so many reviews on that one.0 -
ISOM (and anyone else who's interested), I decided to bite the bullet and have a quick bash at doing the curved seams with help from the youtube vid.
For my first attempt, I am actually very impressed with myself!
It's not perfect because I wasn't able to cut the facric perfectly so have lost some of the seam allowance from my edge straight away. I have also managed to get a pucker into the fabric. I have just used a really thin piece of cotton from one of DD's old pillow cases and I think that thicker material would be easier to get through on a first attempt as this just stretched out of shape whilst I was doing it. I also hadn't pressed the fabric before or after.
I used the normal foot too, so I didn't need to change feet to get the 1/4 inch seam allowance (just need to actually cut 1/4 extra for seam allowance!). So, jobs for tomorrow are to print off a copy of the stencil so that I can figure out a way of getting a template which I won't cut through!
I shan't be doing any more cutting until my mat arrives as cardboard doesn't really cut the mustard!
Now to see if I can actually get photos on here directly. Please excuse the cat, she had to check to see if she needed to kill this item!
Oh bum. I can't upload the pics from photo bucket to here.
Anyone, idiots guide, please?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
You can make one using an old T- shirt and duct tape. Just keep wrapping round and round your arms and torso and then get a friend to cut you out. Stick the two halves back together and there you go. I think you can padd out the inside to make it more solid too. Keep meaning to do this as it sounds like fun but not got round to it yet!
Hmm - better not ask OH, he would be likely to wrap me in duct tape, take it over my mouth and leave me:D.
Good idea though but my waistline does tend to expand and shrink with the seasons!!!LOL
Avstar - I have also seen one in a charity shop sadly the wrong size at 18-24 but an absolute bargain at £10, this was a couple of years ago and do have a habit of looking in the papers, CS, ebay (hold their price well), gumtree, freecycle ets but no luck yet!!!!0 -
I give up, I have read and re-read the guide for adding images bout a billion times and it doesn't chuffing work. I have to go out and get DD now so if you want to see the curved seam, click on the link and have a browse.

aww hug grumpy Kaz...if its any consolation my phone wont let me upload to fb which is my normal method of doing pics and I was desperate to share my quilt with you all as feel youve encouraged me along the way! Will have to wait until camera Im affraid! Anyway well done Kaz for doing it and so well. Are you going to try the luscious pattern I linked to?
Anyway cant do quilt so here instead is a scan of my first hexagon with the beautoful liberty fabric which takes my breath away every time I see it...know you lot will understand!
Kaz to upload from pb right click the direct link code that comes up below your piccy; click on logo above with mountains; delite the http message and then paste the pb clode in and voila! Love the cat btw...they do like to help dont they eh! Mine has just discovered my basket with machine project in!!
Sleep tight all!
ps...the cotton threads come out right at the end when youve done the whole throw etc as paper stays in till then so fabric is nice and firm!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
That's lush ISOM
. I can't wait to see finished pics.
Right, let's have another bash at it......
So, the trick for me is to not bother trying to use the little mountain pic but to copy the IMG thumb code and then paste it directly into the message here. Then the picture shows. Otherwise it's just a square with an x in it. No idea why?
Hey, I'm learning new stuff aren't I?:rotfl::jDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek: :eek: :eek: £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I love the bag MissPixie :T
I too have a problem with numbers, I swap them around and realy have to look at phone No.s or I end up giving someone the wrong ones
Kazwell done on putting the pic's on
I use photobucket and resize them then I right click on the pic to bring down a box then click on properties (at the bottom) I then highlight the url code, copy it then use the little mountain pic here to paste the code in. My OH who is a PC geek told me that was the easier was for me to remember how to do it
ISOM I saving a lot of my scraps to make a hexie quilt but I think it will be a cushion cover as Ive not got time to wait 50 years to finish it :rotfl:
I have sewn lots of my scraps into strips so I can cut them into multi colour squares
Now Im back at work I won't have time to sew like I have beenGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing
