Thank you:j0 -
I am about to attempt a hoody top for a leopard costume for DS (made a bumble bee yesterday and will post photos soon).
I have a top I can use as a pattern but if someone could give me a basic step by step, as in what I sew together first, I would be really grateful. I am wondering whether to sew the sides and shoulders before adding the sleeves or to sort of attach the sleeves and then sew up the sides?
Don't need to worry about the neckline as I am doing a hood which crosses over at the front in a sort of V.0 -

It's done! Thanks for the advice, I can't wait for him to wake up now so I can try it on him.
Have left the ears for now as I need to see where to position them but will pop some photos on tomorrow.x0 -
Well after a looong weekend of sewing (reacon Ive done about 22 hours!) feel at last like Im getting there! Chuffed with the result but praying that there is enough fabric to get the top done this week and will then get the backing and plan that next weekend...may just do plain calico which I did for quilt#1 and loved it...only did this one in blueish because I wanted a change!
Looking forward to seeing peoples piccies of what theyve made! Talented bunch you are!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

So happy with how these turned out...
Please excuse the mess in the background. I am not very domesticated at the best of times and with all the sewing I stand no chance!
Bumble Bee
The stripey fabric was £2.25 for 1m at Hobby craft and the black for the wings and sting was a pair of DH's work (uniform) trousers that he has outgrown!
The body has a layer of wadding to make it puffy. It was really easy to do and I feel it may become the basis of many more costumes!
I need to find a black hairband or I might just cover this one? I need a black long sleeve top to go underneath. I think H&M do them so will see how much they are, otherwise I might try and make one, wish DH had an old black t-shirt I could cut up but he doesn't wear black. I got a pair of black tracksuit bottoms in Sainsburys for £2.50 which will come in handy anyway.
Leopard
This was made from 1m of fabric which my mum gave me a while ago so I am glad I have put it to use. I am going to see what the minimum amount of fabric I can buy in Hobbycraft is (I think it is 10cm) as fake fur is £10 for 1 m there but if I could ust buy a 10cm strip it would be handy to have some in. I plan on putting a tuft in each ear to finish it off.
I'm hoping to facepaint a little black nose and whiskers on the day too!0 -
Well done ISOM! Cant wait to see it once its finished. You have been busy!!
Miss Pixie, love your makes. Really like that strawberry fabric.
Vicki - they are superb! How cute!!!0 -
Sorry guys, I am struggling to keep up with all the threads these days!.
What I have skimmed through, I am liking. Very talented lot, I must agree.
My sewing has been slow, but I am continuing to try. Not very fancy or very difficult, but enough for my various health problems. I have a couple of commission bags to make this week. If only I could find my camera! I have to wait until Molly's daughter brings hers on a Wednesday before I can take any pictures of what I do.
Time to have my shower and get DGD to Nursery. Then this morning its Paperwork alas. But hopefully I wll do some sewing this afternoon!.
Keep up the good work everyone. Here is hoping I get more time to keep watch this week. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Loving seeing everyone elses makes. I don't have enough time to keep up properly but I am always flicking through for inspiration.
Miss Pixie that fabric is lovely. I made a strawberry shortcake costume for myself last year and that would have been perfect.0
