oo fab pootle! Will start a thinking then!
Re your layer cake why not try an easier throw as a starter project? That way you'll develop your confidence with a project thats less taxing, doesent take forever to do but looks fab! Nice one here

Been sewing all day and a bit achy so going to have a snooze and then get back to it! Am over halfway to the top being done but will definately need some more fabric for the back...may try going a bit different but unsure! If I can get the majority done today will maybe pop to john lewis tomorrow for that...

I am not sure that they would wash out and might make your needle & machine parts all sticky. The one I have is 505 spray which is just for fabric.

    mmmmm Moda bakeshop lol!

I havent looked on there for ages - lots of great new patterns and I LOVE that Aneela Hoey scooter fabric, I follow her lovely blog (comfortstitching) and have her girl in a tree wallhanging on my (infinite) to-do list.

Anyway I spotted this pattern and thought that it would be nice for your quilt-a-long lhttp://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/06/figgy-four-patch-quilt.html

I made this pattern and despite looking difficult, it is actually quite easy and comes together very quickly - it took me a couple of evenings to do all the cutting & a couple to do the sewing. It is very forgiving if your sewing is wonky and you dont need to match the blocks together. If you are interested, I found some extra instructions on another blog to go with it,
    http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/01/sultry-jelly-roll-project-sheet.html

Once I have quilted my current quilt, I have promised myself that I will attempt a couple of garments for myself, so sorry ladies I wont be joining in this time.

Pennib, the guest book didnt take long at all. Papercrafts come together very quickly, I just get so much stuff out - tools & embellishments and "faff" around for far longer than it takes to actually create anything, then I have such a mess and pile of stuff to put away again. I used to just leave it all out but not now we have kids running around so I rarely do any papercrafts.

I find sewing easier to get out & put away, so is my choice of craft atm.

Thanks for the reminder about Moda bake shop! I'd forgotten about that site. I've been wanting to make my daughter a little back pack and they have a tutorial on there which looks great. Just after a bit of advice though. It's this one http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/08/backpack.html#more. The pattern calls for fusible fleece but do you think it would work without if I use heavy weight cotton fabric? I picked up some lovely fabrics from Ikea so they are the upholstery/curtain type weight cottons and I could do lining and outer in these fabrics, would it be ok do you think? Obviously it's only for a toddler so doesn't need to be hard wearing or carry heavy items.

Im sure it would be fine although you might want to interface them depending on how heavy the fabrics are. If you dont have fusible fleece you can just use wadding (or even a fleece blanket will do) Its just to add a bit more structure to the bag so it doesnt look all floppy. Either way Im sure it will be fine. I deviate from bag patterns all the time.

ISOM that throw looks great and I might be able to manage that so have bookmarked it. Thanks so much for the link. x

I get the 250 size myself. It should be plenty as I used it on my double and there was plenty.
