Thank you Pootle for the link :D, I loved the bag you made and was thinking of making one but I wanted a nice quick one and the tutorials I have seen are too long winded for me :o, as like you, time is going too fast and too many things to do :(

I love all the makes you all are posting :D :T

The quilts on my homepage are mostly made with jelly rolls that I cut myself. You just need a rotary cutter, mat & ruler to cut the fabric into 2.5 inch strips. I bought a couple of fat quaters from here, and also used some other fabric from fabricland as they sell in 10cm amounts.

Some good fabrics on the 'here' shop - any idea what the 'free quilting tool' they give you if you order two FQ packs?

On another note, just had my first sewing disaster. The patterned fleece I bought two weeks ago turns out not to be fleece. It's actually nasty stuff that sheds and frays disguised as fleece. It was in the shop as 'patterned pleece', so I'm half tempted to take it back.

Although, as I had to cut out the squares for the hat three times as I did it wrong the first two times, I'm not sure they'll accept it ;)

Any ideas on making this bag: http://www.warehousefabricsinc.com/blog/pleated-lined-handbag/ smaller? I've not adapted a pattern before.

Thank you for this. I should have asked before I started - I searched for online tutorials but they were awful.

Not been around for a little while, hope life is treating everyone well. Belated Happy New Year, hello to those I don't know.....yet.
I need to blow the dust of my sewing machine I have 4 bags that need finishing I had a bit of a production line going before Christmas.
Last month saw us buying our first ever home, we have lived in army accommodation for a very long time well for my husband since he was about 5, so it is scary and exciting at the same time, we are going to be living in Northamptonshire so if you fancy a brew pop in, as we don't know anyone there yet.
Will have a read through some of the pages and see what everyone has been upto so may just watch for a little while.

    All the best to everyone.

Love the makes Hart, Vicki & Midge, gorgeous.

OK finally dusted off the machine this weekend and mended a pair of jeans (yawn!)...then got crafty :)

Haven't got much fabric in and a bit skint to buy any month so cut up an old blouse, and used scrap packaging and coloured paper to make a couple of cards.
Yes I did sew them LOL (using a v old old needle). Worked OK sewing the appliques onto the card/paper sandwich. Cost zilch so v pleased.

One for Valentines Day (t'other half was v impressed), and save the other for Mothers Day. I think she'll like it cos she taught me to sew, and its her old blouse :rotfl:

*Ok posting the pics didn't work, I'll keep trying!
**Oh I think its working now!

These a beautiful :T :D how clever and MSE too :D
I started sewing using sheets and duvet covers from charity shops, my local reduces some to a £1 if they dont sell with-in a week or so and I always head for that rail 1st :D It's a great way of keeping your sewing going without breaking the bank :D

    Thanks Hart,
I had a very rare day off work yesterday that didn't involve doing anything, so went for a wonder around the local charity shops for some duvets/sheets for fabric. I visited 4 and none of them had any in at all, either they don't stock them or they get snapped up really quick LOL!
Did manage to find a beautiful jacket from Next for £5 which looks like itss never been worn, and an absolutely hideous 80's style black/gold outfit for a fancy dress party I'm going to. Need to get some shoulder pads sewn into it though:D

Got a bit carried away last night too and ordered Burda Style magazine online (just one copy not a subscription) so really need to spend nothing until payday now, need to be good! I used to get the mag years ago so thought I'd check it out and see if its still any good. Only thing I didn't like about it was they don't include seam allowances on the pattern peices so you have to add those on

I know what you mean Avsar, I just had to have a purse kit from uhandbag.com, I know I should not look but I just love her kits and this is a new one called yummy mummy (and daughter) purse :o I have been wanting to do a twin frame purse for ages but I can not find a double frame in this country :o. Now I REALY HAVE got to behave this month or we go hungry till payday :rotfl:
The yellow bag I made for my DGD is a sheet I got from a CS. I can not resist going in them and always find a bargain as there are alot of them here.
