Hi sparkley and welcome
I have done a few patchwork quilts now since starting sewing last year and I found this blog very helpful as she takes you through the very basic squares to makeing more patterns

You do a pattern a week so you can build them up for a nice quilt topGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

If I am doing a quilt which is just made up from small squares I normally sew them into strips first then sew the strips together making sure the seams fit together as I sew.
If I am doing a different pattern then I usually make up blocks and then sew the blocks into strips and then sew the larger strips together.0 -
Wow prompt delivery, the pattern arrived this morning. It is a great pattern but oh so many small pieces. Ah well it will stretch my mind!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
