Am looking for some inspiration. I am going to be making a gardening hamper for Christmas 2010 and I have found some gorgeous garden fabric. I am a sewing novice, so could anyone suggest something easy that I could make to be included as I'd love to use this fabric?

How about a gardening apron:confused: It has pockets in to hold bits of gardening stuff. I will have a look to see if I can find a tutorial for you:D

ETA - here's one http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/788039/how_to_make_a_crafters_or_gardeners.html?cat=32 but if you do a search in google their are loads more :0)

I made sock monkeys this year and lovedthem, and have been inspired by all you crafty people! So am currently in search of a sewing machine, and hope to learn quickly!

I too have visions of a lovely home made Christmas next year full of wonderful things I've whipped up on my non-existent sewing machine:rotfl: LOL

All we have round here is a John Lewis, so if anyone sees anything online worth ordering in the sales, I'd love to see it posted here. Also, if there are any online shops to avoid or that are recommended, that would be good to know too.

I can't imagine JL being my cheapest option for fabric!

Snap! :D Although, I am going to buy one, once I can find one suitable for a complete novice that doesn't break the bank!

I'm fairly crafty, so I don't see why I can't learn something new, with a bit of determination and a lot of asking people here for advice when it goes wrong... :rotfl:
  • Don't forget to try freecycle for a sewing machine....and fabric (old clothes) and wool.

I buy lots of clothes to use for fabric from jumble sales :)
