I have never been much good at sewing but I am determined to change that this year. I am getting my much beloved and missed mum's sewing machine and am determined to make wonderful things with it, just as she did. I do know that it needs a service as she mentioned it before she passed away.
Does anyone know where I can get it serviced?0 -
I was bought a brand new spanking Brother XL 2620 for Christmas - as a surprise gift! I now need to know what the heck to do with it! I can thread it and can wind a bobbin. I cannot sew straight yet haha! So I'm in to learn a few things!
:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

My hubby bought me a sewing machine 3 years ago with the intention of my altering jeans/trousers because at 5ft 1 and a bit they are always too long for me. However, I think I have had the machine out all off 4 times! I really would like to learn to use it more and have a bash at some projects so will watch this "thread" with interest.£2 savers club. I asked on the wanna buy it or do it board, but received no replies. What do you think of this as a beginner's machine? Anyone seen a better option? I need to buy a sewing machine before I do any machine sewing... :rotfl:
Hiya
My mam bought one like that from Dunelm for about £45, it was rubbish, she took it back in the end. She then decided to try and get her old one serviced and now it works great:rolleyes: If I was you I would buy a full size basic machine. Mine is a brother and it cost me around £80 about 3 year ago and does everything I need it too plus more;) I think it is great for a beginner like me:D

Some kind person on another thread (sorry can't remember who) said that Argos are selling a pack of 5 cotton tea towels for £1.49 that might be great for your crayon rolls, lovely bright colours, bit retro. I've reserved 3 sets to collect on Thursday:D
