Anyone know of a good online sale of CHristmas Fabric? I want to make a tree skirt and thought I could pick some bargains but can't seem to find any decent sales........

    Not a sale, but at £2.59/m I think it's a good price anyway, http://www.fabricland.co.uk

Heres a tutorial with bunny shapes, the lady in question used them for a bunting but they could easily be stuffed to be used as cuddlies.

    Welcome to the party!

They sound great but am I being thick? I can't see the tutorial?

First time poster here. and sewing novice:eek:

I want to make a patchwork (squares) cushion. will sew by hand. Do you know what I should use for the filling? (a cushion pad?). Where can I get cheap cushion pads??

should I use poppers or zip for the opening? and should I make the back of the cushion in one piece of fabric, i.e. not patchwork?

    cheers:)

I have made patchwork cushions before and I have always just put a plain back on them xx

I don't know if anyone else lives near Hatfield, but I popped in there today and the Laura Ashley Outlet is closing down and all the fabric is 50% off marked price, the prices start about £1.50 per metre up to about £10 per metre but it's usually £35-50 per metre in Laura Ashley.

Thanks for this! I live about 400 miles from Hatfield but my daughter is only about 5 miles from there. Emailed her about the LA sale there and she went yesterday and got 3 different fabrics, about 10 metres in total, for £37.

She's hoping to move house soon so I'll be doing some sewing for her!

    Thanks again

Yes, that will be fine. Its not really that thick and is thinner than normal oilcloth so you should be OK to make an apron with it. :)

Glad someone else got there to pick some up, I bought about 10m for about £25, but it looks like you've got another job lined up for you. I decided to take the plunge today and have booked some one2one lessons on my own machine starting next week I'm looking forward to it and am getting quite excited now. :)

Slightly off topic but I figured some of you ladies/gents would be able to help....

Can anyone recommend any particularly good links/ youTube videos / magazines or books for a beginner to crocheting?
