Im not sure how much they are on sewing machines direct but I noticed the machine you are looking at in John Lewis today on special for £89. I remembered reading your post yesterday so thought Id let you know just incase its cheaper. I dont really "know" this machine but from reading the spec it looks like a good deal. The only thing I couldnt see if it had was the ability to lower the feed dogs for free motion. Let us know how you get on with it. x
Ah yeah I saw that one but I have heard lots of good things about smd! It is £99 but you get lots of freebies with it so it would be more expensive to buy the other machine and all the stuff I would have got freeGetting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!
2010 wins: approx £2198
2011 wins value so far: approx £650

When I make Wiggly Bags I use 1 metre of cotton tape.
The recipient can then cut to the right length.

can i just say to anyone who makes wiggy bags in childrens designs, you don't realise how important to a children they become. and the smile on a childs face when they see a wiggy bag in a great design/character they love. makes for just 5 mins you forget what the child is actually going through. and 5 mins in what seemes like a hellish time that is never gonna end to see a smile, omg is amazing.
sorry for waffling , but little things do make all the diiference.0 -

Just found a Martha Stewart book at a bargain price if anyone is interested. Only £8.99 inc free delivery which is £1 less than Amazon. You'll find the info here (at the bottom of the page) which includes a link to the site. I love the Martha Stewart site and the book has excellent reviews.:j0

PootleFlump wrote: »Can anyone who does quilting help me please. Im about to buy a new foot for my machine and not sure whether to get this or this
One of them seems to do 1/8" and 1/4" but the other has what looks like a guide to run your fabric along. Can anyone help me choose please. I havent done any quilting yet so would prefer for someone who knows about it to give me their thoughts before I buy. Ta. x
Hi Pootleflump - I think you will find that the foot that does the 1/8 amd 1/4 inch is one that you would use when sewing the patchworks together so that you keep the seams the same size all the time. I dont really bother with this as I can move my needle over and use the edge of the foot that comes with my machine to give me whatever seam width I want.
I think the other foot with the gauge would be for the actual quilting so you can get your lines of quilting parallel to each other. Again I dont use one of these as I usually do my quilting by hand.
I would like to get a walking foot for my machine for machine quilting as this is supposed to feed the layers through the machine better without them getting scrunched up. But again, it would only pay off if I am doing smaller quilts as the ones I have been doing would be quite hard to fit under when I am doing the centre of them due to there being too much fabric to fit under neath the arm bit.
Hope this helps but may be someone else who uses the feet mentioned will come on and give their opinion, Rufus xx0
