I've shortened my floral maxi dress to make it just above knee length, it looks much better on me now and well worth the £3!0

Hi All, is there room for another in here? I'm a total novice, the last time I touched a sewing machine was at school (not very recently), but have decided I need a hobby and this is it. I've bought a Brother X5 from Argos and am just about to start to explore. I don't know if anyone else lives near Hatfield, but I popped in there today and the Laura Ashley Outlet is closing down and all the fabric is 50% off marked price, the prices start about £1.50 per metre up to about £10 per metre but it's usually £35-50 per metre in Laura Ashley.2014 20p savers club #2 I've given up trying to keep track of how much that pig eats!
2014 £2 savers club #3 - I've no idea, but the pig is beginning to get mighty heavy

Hello All
I posted on this thread when it started, but I was making a friends wedding dress and didn't get the opportunity to join in. That said I am VERY nosey and have logged on occasionally just to look through the pictures you have all been posting. I love what you have all been doing and there has been some wonderful things to look at.
Now things have calmed down for a while I would love to join in properly if you will have me. Also I'm due my first baby in May :j so need to get organised with sewing bits and bobs for that.
I look forward to getting to know you all.

I want to make a patchwork (squares) cushion. will sew by hand. Do you know what I should use for the filling? (a cushion pad?). Where can I get cheap cushion pads??
should I use poppers or zip for the opening? and should I make the back of the cushion in one piece of fabric, i.e. not patchwork?
cheers:)0 -
Newbie! Hi All, inherited a sewing machine and have been meaning to use it for some time now. Have now managed to get three big bags of sewing stuff/material from Freecycle and now have even more motivation! Was thinking of trying to do something rabbit themed as my big sis runs a rabbit rescue and I thought she may be able to sell some stuff at her fundraisers. Was thinking either doorstops (bunny shaped) or maybe bunny peg bags or something? Anyone got any ideas where I can get patterns please?0

Ikea is also good for cushion pads.
you could just do an envelope back, very easy and looks good. Just google or try you tube for a tutorial.0 -

Heres a tutorial with bunny shapes, the lady in question used them for a bunting but they could easily be stuffed to be used as cuddlies.

Anyone know of a good online sale of CHristmas Fabric? I want to make a tree skirt and thought I could pick some bargains but can't seem to find any decent sales........0
