Until I can get out and get some supplies for my sewing projects, I have been crocheting. I am planning to make a blanket out of my granny squares.
I taught myself how to do it on Sunday and I have become addicted.
Just wish there were 34 hours in a day so i could sew/knit/crochet and work and be a mother and wife!

Kandipandi - did you use a particular book or tutorial to teach yourself? I can knit and I can sew but i have never got to grips with crochet at all! Blankets made of granny squares look so cosy.

I followed this woman's instructions on Youtube, I have tried books but this was so much easier and I watched loads before I found one I could easily follow, she is very good, give it a go.

I have done one a night so far, so in about a year I will have a blanket! :)

Nuttywoman, I'm positive that your angels will be amazing but that hair in a plastic bag is so scary!!!!

I got a bit of a gliff when I saw it and got a shiver down my neck :rotfl:

Because i cant afford a sewing machine this month my mother is going to teach me how to sew! Im really excited, so excited i started to do a bit of her cross stitch but then she started moaning saying she was on a tricky bit, it wasnt tight enough yada yada so i gave that one up!

Hopfully the pic of my first make will be on here soon!
  • Kandipandi, thanks for that, have had a look and will give it a go again! I think watching someone else rather than trying to follow pictures in a book will be much easier.

PepPop , if you're still looking for projects using old t shirts, have just read the current issue of Sew Hip magazine and they have a pattern for boxer shorts from old t shirts!!

Have you tried asking on freecycle for a sewing machine? I gave away my old one a few weeks ago - it was in good working order, I just got a new one from my husband for my birthday last year.
