Hi everyone, i'm looking at purchasing my first sewing machine and was thinking of getting the simplicity by janome dm1000 as i'd heard janome is the best brand? Does anyone have any experience of this machine or can reccommend similar for a beginner? many thanks, lauren xx

Tete, thank you so much for the fabulous trees idea - they're smashing and don't look hugely complicated!

Don't know about the machine but I bought a different machine from there a week ago and the service is fantastic.

Thanks shirlgirl, I had heard they are very good, now it's just deciding which would be best for me as a beginner...

Well as a beginner too I bought their entry level one for a few pennies short of £90. It isn't a Janome but does come with a 2 year guarantee. I after 2 years if I'm still keen I reckon I'd be ready to "trade up" anyway. I have found the machine really simple to use and seems to have loads of features and sounds very similar to the one you highlighted. It does have only 18 stiches rather than the 24 of the Janome but as a novice I can't see much else that is diferent.
  • Fantastic angel Dopey, well done:T

Until I can get out and get some supplies for my sewing projects, I have been crocheting. I am planning to make a blanket out of my granny squares.
I taught myself how to do it on Sunday and I have become addicted.
Just wish there were 34 hours in a day so i could sew/knit/crochet and work and be a mother and wife!
