  • Just made a French Bread Basket but can't decide if it should be tied with the corners in or out?

  • cuddles That is a fab idea! i would say in like your photo. What have you used inside?

I am currently playing with a piece of road map fabric about a metre square & want to do the same type of thing so the road map folds into a bag/box for my son to put all his cars in. I have quilted the fabric but it is still not stiff enough. I want it to be washable so not sure what to use to stiffen the sides!

Could you use plastic cross-stitch canvas? I used it to make a fabric dolls house for my daughter like this one http://http://uklassinus.blogspot.com/2008/08/fabric-dollhouse-tutorial.html

I used something called Pelmet Vylene to stiffen as i had some, but you could use lots of things I suppose.

This is another basket with the corners out

  • Pennib, love your latest addition.

Cuddles, I think it looks better with corners out (if doing them in I would be inclined to tuck them in completely and finish the top off with bias binding.

Would agree with Bexterwho re the plastic canvas to stiffen. (Bexter, Ive bought this to make that dolls house (love that tutorial) but aint got round to it yet. do you have any piccies??!)

Wasn't sure where to put this but thought this the best place.
A friend of mine is wanting to make a duck for her grandaughter so the fabric she wants is a sort of furry finish so she tells me (I don't know anything about this sort of thing so can't help her) She wants to know the best place to buy this sort of fabric.........she used to use oakley fabrics but they closed down I'm told.
If you can help with a website I'd be grateful.....:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Hi Mary :D I have brought a large fleece throw to cut up for making soft toys for my next GC not sure if this would be what your friend wants for her duck ? I got a nice bright yellow one from Dunelm for £3.99.
