Here's a heat pad thingy that my daughter 'made'.
She asked me to put something on the front so I appliqued a family of owls.
I said she ought to make a separate bag inside for the rice but she didn't want to, so I made that, then she said could I sew the outside up as well so in essence I've made it! Of course she'll tell everyone that she made it :rotfl:

    Thanks

Dizzy I thought it might have been you that had made the crayon rolls before, what spacing have you used on yours I just did 3/4" like it says on the tutorial and didn't realise only had pockets for 15 not 16 lol.

Genie i use 1" spacing and i use this tutorial which is easy to follow

  • Thanks, Shelley and Dizzy.

We were playing Scrabble at my brother's yesterday and I realised that we don't have a proper bag for the letters in ours. So I've just made this from an old tshirt:

  • A bit early for Easter I know, but thought I'd share this idea I've just come across,
    An easter crayon roll

hi, i was just wondering if anyone has come accross a pattern for, or even made, a tea bag wallet? you know, with little pockets for each kind of tea, holding about 4 or 6. i'd like one for me as i travel around for work, and think they'd make nice stocking fillers. but even though i've looked at lots of pictures on flickr, i cant figure out how you add the pocket so it's the right way round without sewing it down as applique. maybe that's just how it's done. any ideas anyone?

  • I'd not heard of a tea bag wallet so I googled it and there's quite a few tutorials. Is this what you're thinking of? http://blog.christyscreations.com/tea-wallet-tutorial/

What did you use round your letters to make them so fancy?
Is it an embroidery stitch on your machine?

You will get one on the Muffins and More blog. Sure I saw one not that long ago. Anything tea related goes on there!!

I used Clutter Punk's tutorial and found it made good sense, and was actually really easy! She even allows for those without darning foots and droppable feed dogs! (though i found it easier to use both, and also an upside down embroidery hoop to keep the tension) http://clutterpunk.blogspot.com/2009/10/thread-sketching-on-fabric-techniques.html

After going round in a circle for a bit i tried to copy her bird design and i think actually looks like a bird! good luck!

I'm trying really hard not to rush out of work to my sewing machine to try this out! Oh I think I could make some lovely artwork for the walls! ... *imagination runs riot*
