    Hello everyone,

I have been admiring everyones projects on here for the past couple of weeks and have even been inspired enough to start making sock monkeys! It was a bit of a faff as I only had one of those mini sewing machines and I was trying to save up for a new machine. However, I have now been given a Toyota machine. The model number is 2466. Would anyone have any idea where I can get an instruction manual for this machine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have a growing bundle of colourful socks I want to transform into monkeys / other animals.

  • What do you think. I attempted a crayon roll this morning using this tute for the pocket.

http://uklassinus.blogspot.com/2008/09/lazy-crayon-roll-tutorial.html and this tute for the rest.

http://chocolateonmycranium.blogspot.com/2008/04/crayon-roll-tutorial.html. But I am not sure how its turned out.

Admittedly I did forget to add some interfacing but then I think the bunching would have been worse. Do they not lie nice and flat when they have crayons in .

  • Howdi guys,

Love your bread tray Cuddles (corners out is best):D and your other makes.

Genie fab crayon roll. i don't use interfacing in mine. I think the bunching depends on the fabric thickness as some of mine do bunch but others where i have used canvas like material don't do. I use a tute off skip to my lou site (the link is on my blog).

Sally well done on your wiggly bags i'm sure they will be really appreciated.

Pootle can't help with the felt i'm afraid. When i have used it i haven't prewashed it.

This is a personalised crayon roll i made this weekend (ignore the fact the fabric needs a run over with the iron:rotfl:)

Homemademummy, you can add your blog to your profile, so when you click on your name, you go straight to it.

Someone asked for a patchwork cushion tutorial, I have this one... http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=7107 Which is one of my favourite websites. There are also a couple on here...http://www.modabakeshop.com/search/label/Home%20Decor

Otherwise you could use a single block pattern. If you google patchwork block then hundreds will pop up. I did a log-cabin block, which is great as you can keep adding to it, till it is the correct size4996426835_85882509e0_m.jpg

Now, Does anyone have a tutorial for free-motion embroidery on the sewing machine? I treated myself to a darning foot & really want to have a go. I borrowed a Poppy Treffrey book from the library ages ago but someone else has borrowed it now & it is not due back for 2 more weeks!

I think you might need to make the ´pockets´ for the crayons a bit wider to stop the bunching

Dizzy I thought it might have been you that had made the crayon rolls before, what spacing have you used on yours I just did 3/4" like it says on the tutorial and didn't realise only had pockets for 15 not 16 lol.

hey Tamster, your cushion is lovely! I used Clutter Punk's tutorial and found it made good sense, and was actually really easy! She even allows for those without darning foots and droppable feed dogs! (though i found it easier to use both, and also an upside down embroidery hoop to keep the tension) http://clutterpunk.blogspot.com/2009/10/thread-sketching-on-fabric-techniques.html

After going round in a circle for a bit i tried to copy her bird design and i think actually looks like a bird! good luck!

Thanks - It was the first thing I made on my machine but it is still only a square of fabric - should really get round to making it into a cushion! lol

and the tutorial is excellent! The others that I found talk about bringing the bobbin thread up but I couldn't work out what they meant. Your tutorial is very straigtforward.
