  • Aw, poor old Marley.
He's not creepy at all, he's lovely, and so is Gwen.

Just seen that last part - what a mean thing to say about such a little cutie!!! Some folk are strange!
  • Thanks girls I think Marley was quite offended :rotfl:
She is a bit strange tbh and might explain why the shop is always empty!

craft shops are struggling to stay open - and she treats her customers like that - NOT GOOD!!!
  • How sad that someone like that is running that type of shop. Such a shame when there aren't many about.

I know it's such a shame because she is the only one in the area. I mean I know sock monkeys are not to everyone's taste but surely you would be a bit more tactful to a customer?
I've always found her very prickly and I recently sent my hubs over to get me some felts and he came home and said he thought she was a right wierdo and she was really rude to him! Sadly I'm going to stop going there and shop online.

I normally pay around £10.99 or so a metre online (depending on what Im buying). I dont think £6.99 a metre is too bad. Its quite an expensive hobby that we all have!! You could always buy duvet covers or go to charity shops and see if you can find something in there if you looking for alot of fabric a bit cheaper.

I must be very lucky where i live, we have a shop in town called A Pound a Yard! They have some lovely fabrics (and some not so lovely!!) for a £1 a yard, ive used some of the fabric to just practice on, but they have nicer fabrics in there aswell, more expensive but still fairly cheap. They have a website but it doesnt look like its working, thought that maybe you guys could order over the phone from him, they are really nice, helpful people there. poundayard.co.uk

We also have Skopos, and they have a gorgeous shop in an old mill, its lovely, all the gorgeous fabrics, but really expensive (to me anyway who is a bargain fabric hunter only!) - however, they have a remnant attic, and you can pick up some cheap rolls of material. My favourite part is the bargain boxes, they have big pieces of nice material for £1, sometimes 50p!!! Love it.

There is also Leeds Market, ive not been myself, but my friend goes all the time, she loves it there, and only buys £1 - £1.50 a metre fabrics, they dont do fabrics much more expensive than that, and she has had some really nice fabric from there.

Ooooh we also have fabworks too! Its a big mill with hundreds of different fabrics http://www.fabworks.co.uk/ (its a big mill, and much better than the pic on site)

I just take it for granted that these places are there!
