Pennib I love the dresser. All our furniture is in storage, its solid pine and I am toying with the idea of painting some of our bedroom pieces.

Nice patchwork by the way and well done to everyone else.

    I made this today

    4994184986_099792824d_m.jpg4994185688_9883338785_m.jpg

from the fabric I bought at Ikea the other day. The fabric was probably too thick for the fleece but I only added that too the outer fabric.
And unfortunately I placed the magnetic clasp too high so cannot top stitch around the outside. But hubby thinks it looks good.
Can you believe that I also had to make myself a little pattern to be able to get the pleats in the right place for myself, otherwise I would probably
    still be faffing now, lol.

  • Has anyone seen or head of a side cutter foot, stitches and cuts in one go. At £32 would that be better than an overlocker or am I missing something.

See here just scroll down a little though http://www.sewingmachines.co.uk/brothersewmcfeet.htm.

I've never heard of one before, but it certainly looks like it would do the same job as an overlocker doesn't it?
  • I'm a lurker of this thread so hope you don't mind me posting. I discovered a passion for sewing about 18 months ago after I developed an obsession with owls!! I decided I would make myself an owl cushion and armed with my Mum's 30 year old singer machine I had a go. I designed my own little range called Hooties and sold a lot through family and friends. Here is one I made for my godson:

He is backed in minky fur which i love :) I also made one for my neighbours little girl:

I also made this Hooty from a melly and me design:

And finally I made a sock monkey last night:

I would also love to have a go at making clothes and bags but not sure my sewing skills would stretch to this.

Oo, tell us a bit more about the sewing job!! What kind of things is it to sew?
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
