well i was on a roll with my patchwork quilt. done loads today. then went to edge a bit on the seing machine and the belt snapped. i just sat there in horror!!!! i was at point of crying. as my machine is so old i just had no idea if i could get a replacement belt. i can't explain how i felt when it happened. but i phoned my singer shop and a replacement belt is £2.10. however they are out of stock but should be in tomoz. on a plus note was looking on ebay to find a belt and my machine is on there. only one of them but it is £197!! wow. not that i'm gonna sell my fair heir loom but i was shocked it so much. i know what i was offered by the singer shop for it. but seeing the price on ebay has made me realise how valuable it is. so i'm chuffed.
i am now gonna spend evening prob sewing by hand as i want to get my quilt finished although wont be tonight as i had planned.0 -
Hello lovely ladies!
I'm still lurking and am in awe of your makes - love your pictures!
Without putting anyone to any trouble,I wondered if you knew of any tutorials for making fabric bows. I'd like to update some of my plain tops and large bows seem to be the trend at the moment.
Thank you!

hello - I'm back with more questions I'm afraid!
Has anyone used an Amy Butler pattern before? I saw a couple for tunic tops/dress in John Lewis this week and her fabric is gorgeous. ebay searches show that I'll probably have to pay full price for a new one. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience and whether they might be easy enough for a relative beginner (her material is pricey so may use other fabric!)

Also - I really want to make my wee girl something like this (which is round, but I'd happily make a square or rectangular one) My google searches aren't really throwing up any patterns - can anyone help? or Alternatively, tell me whether I could wing it with my own fabric for the outer, some lining fabric and perhaps some batting to add the structure?????? I really want to make her a beatrix potter one to match her room (I managed a cushion and a cot duvet cover *beams*)

elise - I'm in awe of your blog. I'm also learning to be a stay-at-home-mummy. (my LO is only 17 months so I still feel like i'm at the practice stage!!!)
eta - we also have a tripp trapp, but the new version has a different shaped cushion so going to follow your lead and try making one of those.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

I managed to get a remnant of Amy Butler fabric in my John Lewis the other week, it was half price AND discounted! It was very pleased! It's just over a metre so I am going to make myself one of these tops (eventually)
