Just wondering if anyone has ever bought anything from this company?
http://www.sewingmachinediscount.co.uk/
Just rung to place an order and when I queried a price as the advert was a bit misleading, the guy hung up on meRang back and asked why and he said that he didn't want to supply me and to buy somewhere else
Was looking at the Brother XR6600. They have it on offer at the moment and it says 10% deducted at checkout. There is also a banner offering EXTRA 10% if you use a code. I simply rang the orderline because the site wouldn't accept my card details although I know they are right. I asked for clarification of the 10% and he hung up on meHowever, they are the best price, and offer a 15 year guarantee which includes a free annual service. Looks too good to be true, so maybe it is
If you Google 'Coopers Sewing Machines', there are lots of similar experiences to your... perhaps you should look elsewhere?

I've tried them in all ways round.......they go in about 2-3mm and won't go any further. I've got the screw that holds it in loose as well (that was what my OH asked!)
If you have one of the needles that came with the machine it might be best to take it into a sewing machine shop. They might be able to identify what needle it is. I have an old babylock overlocker and that takes industrial needles which is a real pain when you need to buy them.0 -
Hi everyone
Im back from my mum's with my nan's sewing box that I should have picked up last time I was there

Mum even let me go through her lace and take what I wanted as a lot of it was too wide for her to use on her cards :j
Then she gave me a load of ribbon.

I have been cutting more squares for my blue and white quilt and trying to work out a pattern in my head but I might draw one instead so I can see better how it will lookI got a nice duvet cover for £1.45 in the CS at mums to tone with the blue I have for the quilt now all I need is time :rotfl:
Oooo, that box is great Hart. I could use one of those myself - never have enough room for all my stuff!Looking forward to seeing your quilt. I know what you mean about time. I never seem to have enough of it either.

I've just picked up a tapestry kit. I'm an utter beginner and wondered if any of you on here had any experience?
Its the Anchor Starter kit of a cat. The instructions said I needed a frame, and couldn't use my embroidery hoop, so I'm waiting for that to arrive (I need a sitting down hobby, I've had to give up gardening due to a bad back).
Anyway, any advice would be most welcome.
Also, I've noticed a lot of comments along the lines that cross-stitchers seem to prefer DMC to Anchor. Can anyone tell me why the preference?
Many thanks.
PGxx
Tapestry is way beyond my capabilities(!) but if you dont get any responses here there is a cross stitch thread in this forum that might be able to help you. Here is the link to it. x

Jennieshrew the playmat is really unique, love it. I have a few babies in the family so I should make some more kids' stuff really. I made my great niece (great?! how old do I sound!!) a little taggie style little blankie. I'm reliably informed that she cannot bear to be parted from it, I'm so pleased that she likes it.
Just found a photo of it (sorry it's a bit big!):
i love the taggies blankets my friends little boy has them all the time and i was wondering if i could make one. think i might have to give it ago. how did you make sure the ribbons were sewn in really strong ?0 -
she is a member of the embroidery guild and to be honest there isnt many crafts she cant do - so jealous - me I am a beginner at most things but hey ho - I am enjoying myself - esp now the machine is getting better - lol
Glad you've got yourself sorted out.
I'm a member of the Embroiderers' Guild too - you don't have to be expert at anything to join (I'm certainly not! :rotfl:) but they usually have workshops where you can try different crafts out. I've been on quite a few. Some I would love to keep doing, others I've not been so keen on. It's a lovely day of escape from the family too!0 -
jcr, I double sewed it in. If you are worried about them coming off you could also top stitch it a few times as well to secure the ribbons. I'll probably do that next time.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0
