Not sure danemi. When you say holes and no thread, is there thread in the needle after you notice its not stitching or has the thread come out? Have you played around with the tension and tested it on various settings? x

I also wondered if the bobbin thread was in correctly?
Should spin anti clockwise and then trough a small nick and then up.

Is the bobbin clicked in fully. Simple mistakes we sometimes make. :o

Is there a sicker or something under the machine (hidden away) with the model number?

I'm trying to find somewhere to buy plastic beans from (so I can make beany baby-type toys) without any success. I can find polystyrene beads everywhere but no joy on anything with a bit of weight to it. I was thinking that at least Hobbycraft would have some, but I can't find any on their website, so I figure not! Any thoughts about using actual dried beans or lentils instead (although I think that would work out quite expensive)?

    Help!

JMM Marketing sell them. They describe them as small opaque plastic beads. I have some that I bought from them and they do have a lot more weight than polystyrene beads. They are £5.93 a 1kg pack. Mine are in a 7 inch by 11 inch poly bag and that is fairly well filled. I think it will work out expensive if you wanted to make a lot of toys though. Possibly use some stuffing and some beads to cut the cost down. JMM also sell stuffing in quite large bags.

I think you can order by phone or send for a catalogue and order by mail. Delivery is free if you spend over £10

thank you will go and have a look but fairly sure it goes down up then down - it seems to start off ok for couple of stitches on test piece - not tight - well snug on one side of fabric but loose on other then within seconds - its just holes and no thread

As your machine is quite old, its possible it needs a good clean out. You;ll find that lint, dust and cotton will have gathered underneath the teeth and in the bobbin compartments. If you can dismantle (taking careful note of how it comes apart) and give it a good dust out with a small paint bush and then add a tiny drop of machine oil on the moving parts and then re-assemble. You'll be surpised in the improvement in performance. After oiling its wise to sew on a scrap of fabrc to soak up any excess oil.

I was going to suggest searching for the manual on line. If you have a model no. it would help... but Rikki has beaten me to it! The manual should give you the oiling points too!
