Hi all, can I join in? Been lurking for a while. Loving all your makes! So much inspiration, just adding to things I want to try! I make bags from recycled clothing, tried a couple stalls but had no luck selling any. I have had a lot of interest through word of mouth. Any suggestions, critique etc gratefully recieved.

nice bags, but if you want to sell those you would need to be trading at festivals and alternative meets

they arent the sort of thing that would sell at a craft fair, nor an everyday market - as they just arent different or high end enough to appeal to the type of buyer who attends those types of places

the types of bags that sell, are pretty, lady's evening bags, rather than your everyday holdall. The type of thing you are making is what most art/college students would be using/producing themselves

I agree with flea72, but I do think they are lovely and you might be able to turn the recycled (or upcycled as it's now being called) aspect to your advantage. Have a look at these. There is a market for upcycled stuff from people who want it but don't have time (or can't be bothered) to make it themselves. It only costs 20p to list an item on Folksy or Misi - maybe you could branch out and make other things from old stuff so your main focus is the upcycling rather than the bags?

Just a thought, hope it's a helpful one.

Bunny I know what you mean, the knowledge that someone likes something you have made enough to spend money on it is almost more important than the money, iyswim. I get a real kick every time I sell something. Well done, there will be no stopping you now!

Thanks for the ideas, but at only 12" long the bags would have to be really small. That's why I'm so stuck!

Hehe yes they would :rotfl: but they could be a small gift bag :rotfl:

You could string some beads on and use to add to sewn items :o
but I think Dizzy's idea is better :D

Ooo just thought, you could lace them through some holes of 2 pieces of fabric then use it as embelishment on something (corset style :o)
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)
