R.Mac the door stops are from a book called 'Sewing in no time' but I did change them slightly.
    But I did find this:
http://lucyjanegallery.blogspot.com/2010/04/making-of-doorstop.html, it is loaded with pictures. I didn't use velcro though, just had the 6
sides all the same and left a gap on one seam for turning. Inside on one of the doorstops I had some cardboard top and bottom, some stuffing out of
a cushion and a small bag of gravel from the garden for the weight. Rice is too expensive where I live lol.

    HTH

oooh that's perfect - thank you. I've used velcro before so should just about cope with that and the tutorial seems quite straight forward. I just need to find some fabric that's heavy enough - I can see a wee look at ebay for some old curtain fabric might be needed!

okay I also have a daft beginners question regarding fabric. I'm looking for some fabric to try out making my wee girl a dress. I've found a simple pattern that I want to have a shot at but what type of fabric am I looking for - cotton, but something heavier than sheeting - what's that called?! I can't think!

I have posted this on the freebies board, but i found this website that gives free fabric samples, i don't know how big or anything but there doesn't seem to be a limit on how many you can order either.

Wow you girls have been busy again!:j

Hart ~ Those cusihions are beautiful, and the skirt is really sweet.:T

Pooky ~ That cat is fab, your blog is great!:T

Tina ~ More lovely makes, where do you find the time???:)

Girls I need some help lol! I'm decorating my baby dd's room atm. My plan is a ladybird theme, as I'm not really a very pink girl I thought red would be nice.(She is too young to care yet lol!)

Anyway I need curtains, cot duvet cover and bumper etc. I can't find any in the shops so I thought I'd make them. My plan is red gingham curtains with a green edging and tab top, with a ladybird button on each tab. Easy enough.

The problem comes with the quilt cover I'm looking to tie in the gingham and have a panel of ladybird fabric on there too, but I can't find any! I need it to have a white or green background, has anyone seen any?

Also what does anyone think of the plan? Does it sound crazy and mis-matched? Also I've never made curtains before so if anyone knows of a tutorial that would be great.

Fruitloop, the only few I can find are these

Im not sure if its what you need though as there are loads of ladybirds on the first one and Im not sure if it looks "kiddie" enough. Second one maybe not right kid of material. Ill keep an eye out for you.

    Hi Pootle:hello:

I'm looking for a cotton rather than linen really, I found the 1st one too but I think they maybe a little too lifelike for a kiddie's room. Thank you for keeping an eye out for me.

Does my idea seem mad? It looks good in my head but when I wrote it down it sounds awful lol!

I use my old nappy box (like a huge tool box from Mothercare) as a sewing box-it's perfect!

I wanted a bigger sewing box, those old wooden ones on legs that concertina out in layers. It was my birthday last week and my OH said he's get me one as a pressie. So i looked on ebay and found a nice new modern one of that style and then found an old one someone was selling from a house clearance - new £65 old £45. The best bit was the old one was full of someone's sewing stuff!!!! 5 pairs of stainless steel dressmaking scissors, needles, pins, knitting needles, reeels and reels of cotton, buttons, a whole rainbow of embroidery thread - i won it off ebay and when it came it was like opening a treasure chest.

I remember those nappy boxes - why didn't i keep mine??
