    :D And Lawrence Lewellyn Bowen!
Actually I'm in the middle of making a skirt from a 70s curtain :o And am planning a skirt and top from an old 80s duvet set.

I find this woman on Flickr very inspirational, she makes clothes from sheets, tablecloths etc :D

Ok so it seems there are other people wearing old curtains!!!
Remembering some of my mothers old '70's curtains I'm not sure I would be bold enough to wear them, there were orange, what was it about the 70's that made everyone love orange and brown so much?! Even old photos from them look orange, not sure if the photo has aged that way or even our slin tone and the air had turned orange with the excess orange paisley that was surrounding us!!!!!!!:D

    Hi Everyone,

    Welcome newbies:D

Thanks for the cake instructions Genie it looks fab.

Kandi Love the sewing cases. i should have a go at some of those as i'm constantly losing needles - i tend to put them in my pincushion and then end up trying to pin with them by mistake (i'm not called Dizzy for nothing:rotfl:)

Hart do you have any instructions for making frame purses as i'd love to have a go (add it to my neverending list:D) but don't have a clue how to make one. Also where do you get your frames from?

Tete did you manage to link up with your fabric swap partner as she had said she couldn't find you - i did say to try you on here as you tend to pop up:D.

Not had much chance for sewing this week but i have made a pegbag for my friend which i'll post when i get a minute. Need to make 2 crayon rolls for presents before weekend but haven't made any before so it will be trial and error and might only end up as one if it goes pear shape:rotfl:

Yes! I saw her message on your blog and sent her an email. She sent some lovely stuff, including one of those needle wallet things that Kandi just mentioned.

Good luck with the crayon rolls, I'm planning on making one for my godson's birthday in October so will probably have to make a start on that soon!!
Tete and Stardrops, just saw on page 29 that you're from Teesside - I'm a Boro girl!

Hi Claire, we'll have to share tips (or lack of) on fabric shops in the area!! Boyes anyone? Are you really working your way right through this thread? Good luck with that, yikes!!

I just wanted to say that I received my fabric swap from Sheyo :) lots of beautiful things :j (pic's else where lol)

Hi Dizzy, I get my frames off ebay, this is the seller I buy them from as she always has some on here listings (just don't look at the buttons lol) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Curved-purse-frame-Silver-colour-/270589840231?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Crafts_Sewing_Supplies_MJ&hash=item3f00694b67

    I use the tutoirial from u-handbag http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2006/12/purse_frames_de.html

Its not as bad as it look once you work out the pattern the rest is just like making a mini bag then the fun is glueing the top to the frame but I always do one side and let it dry before doing the other :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

    Hi all

Kandi love the needlecases. I get that mag as well it has some great ideas.

I've been making a bag and a couple of makeup bags for my eldest whose birthday is coming up. She has tattoos so I thought she would like this fabric.

Yep, I'm soaking up ideas and inspiration as I go along, on page 50 now (had to go to work earlier, boo!) and have loads of stuff saved to my favourites folder :)

Boyes is a lifesaver! I could spend hours looking around upstairs, although don't buy much fabric but for things like buttons and ribbons and lace and felt etc it's brill. I saw a stall on Stockton market today which was selling fabric and buttons and things but was heading into work so didn't have time to have a proper look.

I just remembered I started off a vintage lace scarf a while ago (think I got the idea from Hart's blog, hope you don't mind!) but it was taking ages and the material was a bit stiff so I gave up, now I can persevere and hope it turns out ok and I won't have put too much time into it if it turns out wrong.

Here's a picture of my favourite thing I've ever made, a baby murloc from World of Warcraft, entirely hand sewn and made from felt

Sorry about the size of the pic, I resized it in Photobucket and saved a copy and it's still coming out huge!

This is how he looks in the game
