  • Hi everyone. I bought myself a sewing machine yesterday which was delivered today. I made my first thing which was a wheat bag to keep my dog warm at night. It was quick and easy to do and made from some old fleece and some of the chickens' wheat. Realy quick and easy. The machine is really easy to use too and comes with everything I need for now.

    I bought this starter package.

That seems like a really good deal:T Glad you are pleased with it.

    Hi nuttywoman

I upload my pics onto photobucket then copy the IMG code on the left hand side of the screen and then paste it onto my post. Did that help:confused:

It has yes, thank you :T:T
  • Oh looking forward to the pics poppy, btw I've just become a follower on your blog:D Some gorgeous stuff on there, I love the little sock monkeys:THave you done any craft fairs before? I haven't done one but I keep thinking about it:D

Hi stardrops, thanks for the lovely comments. Your blog is fab too. I love how professional your sewing is.
I havent done any fairs yet. Had the opportunity to do one last summer but didn`t have enough stock to fill the table.
Im hoping local schools have some fairs this year and I`m going to drop them a line to see if I can buy a table.
The last one I was offered was £10 a table for an afternoon which was very reasonable.
Im planning on doing lots of affordable things for say £1-£2 each like hanging hearts, bears, bookmarks etc and a few bigger things like personalised cushions ( I would take orders on the day)
Id love to know if you decide to do one too. Your baby blanket sets would go down a storm!

Hi all, I'd love to join you! I've just spent a happy couple of days (at work, ahem!) reading through this thread and clicking on the websites and blogs and am fully inspired!!

I started a dressmaking evening class in September but haven't really got my teeth into it yet as I only had my grandma's 60s Singer and the lack of instruction booklet was driving me mad with frustration. My wonderful boyfriend got me a brand new Singer, AVEC instructions, for Christmas though so hoping it'll be onward and upward from here on in! We've been told we can leave at 3pm today :snow_laug so my evening is fully planned.

Projects I have in mind at the moment are:
    - Skirt (course project 1)
    - Dress (course project 2)
    - Convert old cardie into a cushion cover
    - Attempt cat lavender wardrobe hangers which look so charming in my mind's eye
    - Finish off the Christmas Cat cross stitich I unearthed a couple of weeks ago
    - Make a skirt out of some vintage curtains - I saw this on a blog and bought an easy A-line pattern but am yet to find my dream curtains!
    - Attempt little dog doorstop I bought a pattern for - poss in time for friend's birthday in Feb, if not maybe mother's day!!

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the bird mobile thing so will try and give that a go soon too. Oh and on a more pressing note, I should probably re-hem the trousers I'm wearing today, currently held up with pins :o

  • Welcome Tete en l`Air would love to see what you make!

My Tilda books are on fire today with me flicking through like a mad woman picking out projects.
I`d really like to make the bags in the Sew Pretty Homestyle book but am unsure what size bamboo handles to buy. Ive got some lovely LA Gingham fabric to use.
Here is a link to the book and the bags are on the front cover.

Has anyone ever made these before? I think they would make gorgeous gifts.
Id love to have a go at the slippers too for guests as we are getting new carpets fitted soon and don`t want any shoes walked through the house! I`m baffled at the instructions tho.

Don't worry all the instructions baffle me! I've looked at loads of the links in this thread but most seem as clear as mud so I feel I'm going to have a steep learning curve!

Ooh blimey you've been yapping you lot :D I'll catch up in a bit when I get back from the school run. In the meantime - here's my sewing machine... anyone got any ideas where I take it to be looked at? Make sure it works etc?

    Hi Tete,

Tilda is the trademark I think??? The publisher is David and Charles- the books are written by Tone Finnegar and there is also a Tilda range on the Panduro Hobby website.

The crafts are lovely in the books - I have them all.
