Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver! Xmas Saver!
I`d really like to make the bags in the Sew Pretty Homestyle book but am unsure what size bamboo handles to buy. Ive got some lovely LA Gingham fabric to use. Poppy x

I don't know if this would help with your bag pattern and getting the right size, but i've only seen normal and very very big ones, and if the pattern required very very big ones i would have thought it would say so.

when i wanted to make a retro style bag with an old table cloth, the only ones i could find new were 5 quid in Beaties. so instead i trawled the charity shops and found 2 nasty handbags in the 50p/please-take-it-away bins. A quick snip later and I had good handles and some remnants to make something else with (including a Jack Sparrow head-band from the dreadful 1/2 gold sequins on one of the bags).
Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!

Ooh blimey you've been yapping you lot :D I'll catch up in a bit when I get back from the school run. In the meantime - here's my sewing machine... anyone got any ideas where I take it to be looked at? Make sure it works etc?

WOW! my dd has a big heavy sewing machine as well.Hers is called OLGA :rotfl: and as she living in Germany its in the spare bedroom here at the moment. I asked her a few weeks ago if i should get rid of it ( she`s bought a modern one over there ) NO she says, her & hubby are going to come on a road trip and pick it up sometime :T:T
She got it from local freecycle .
  • Hi stardrops, thanks for the lovely comments. Your blog is fab too. I love how professional your sewing is.
I havent done any fairs yet. Had the opportunity to do one last summer but didn`t have enough stock to fill the table.
Im hoping local schools have some fairs this year and I`m going to drop them a line to see if I can buy a table.
The last one I was offered was £10 a table for an afternoon which was very reasonable.
Im planning on doing lots of affordable things for say £1-£2 each like hanging hearts, bears, bookmarks etc and a few bigger things like personalised cushions ( I would take orders on the day)
Id love to know if you decide to do one too. Your baby blanket sets would go down a storm!

    Hi Poppy

I've been asked a couple of times to do one at Ripley near Harrogate. I think it was £15 for a 6' table for the day which is really good I think:confused: But like you I didn't have enough stuff to fill it! I am seriously thinking about it this year though and would maybe go for a mix of sock monkeys, baby blankets, bags, pincushions etc:D Maybe I need to visit a few first to see whats what;)
Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
    Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:

    4/2/16 - 13lbs to lose:D
    11/2/16 - 12lbs to lose:D
    3/3/16 - 11lbs to lose:D
  • Saw a bargain sewing machine today - in Aldi, for £49.99. Didn't have a thorough look as I've got 2 good ones already, but hubby pointed it out to me. They also had sewing kits for £3.49 each - one had all threads, another had pins/needles, scissors, unpickers etc. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone is looking for one.

£15 is really good for Ripley!
The last fair I went to was at The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle and it was a mix of food and crafts - the crafts were mainly jewellery and card stalls.
I believe they charge £45 for a pitch at that particular fair!

I`ve made another felt bear today to add to the basket so hoping to build my stocks up slowly. I want to have a good lot of stock as sometimes when people have stalls with only a few bits on then it puts me off from looking especially if things aren`t clearly priced either.

Also another thing to consider is contacting large corporates to see if they allow sellers to go in and set up a table in break rooms/canteens etc.

Was thinking of making some of the Tilda scented strawberries in felt too for little decorations. I need to test a few fragrance oils out so I can find out which one lasts the longest.

Hopefully my buttons will arrive tommorrow to embellish my Duttons For Buttons bag, this one is for me tho as a treat!

I wish the snow would go away now tho as I would love a trip to the library for some more books for inspiration.

Well i blame your wonderful blog for me making my first sock monkey last night, and now am rather obsessed went out bought some more socks from tesco and i have 2 more waiting to be stuffed after i finish on here and lots more socks waiting to be sewed tomorrow. I also ended up buying the sew pretty homestyle, spring and christmas books after seeing your angels. I thought this was supposed to save me money:rotfl: only joking i had some money in my paypal account from selling on ebay so that paid for the books. There are lots of you talented bunch of people on these threads that are going to make me very busy this year.

My top tip is to sign up to the survey sites, get paid in Amazon vouchers and buy Christmas pressies and craft books with them ;);) That's what I just bought my last two craft books with. Cost me nothing except some time filling in some surveys :D

Stardrops I've just spent FAR to long on your blog!:rotfl: You have a new stalker ;) I want to make at least one sock monkey for Christmas as my daughter is Monkey mad - bought her a knitted one for Christmas and she is obsessed with it, best present of the year. No she is not a bubba - she's nearly 13!:rotfl:
