Made this yesterday from the book 'Bean bag buddies' that I borrowed from the library. I think I might buy it as the instructions were really clear and I think all the makes are lovely.

Hello, hope you don't mind me butting in,,,,
I'm a long time lurker here,i pop in every day to see all of your wounderful makes- WOW you are all sooooo talented:T
sm1971 - I have that book too
I bought it a couple of weeks ago in a charity shop for 70p! My first make was the alien the same as yours but i made mine in white, which was from a fleece throw i had bought that was reduced in Wilkinsons from £4.99 to £1.99
I have also cut out the pieces to sew a rabbit but haven't got around to sewing up yet

Me too
my charity shop charged 99p but I was thrilled with it, I buy fleece throws as well to make them. This is a great book for bean toys

Hi again everyone!
Slight change of plan, as my friend who is teaching me can't do Friday, so it's moved to next Friday, so in the meantime I am going to an absolute beginners class on Tuesday to get some of the basics sorted so I don't look (as) silly in front of my friend next Friday!
I'm going here:
http://www.miss-libby-rose.co.uk/classes/absolute-beginners-sewing-class
And I am learning to make a clutch purse. Exciting!!!! :T
Sarahjovi - I loved your bag
sm1971 - the little bean bag was fab! Maybe when I get a bit more advanced I can make one for my youngest niece.
Kandipandi - Your cushion is so pretty! How long did it take you to make?
I have been looking at some of the links to Ebay for fabric - do you all generally find that this is a cheaper way to get fabric than buying from farbic shops such as John Lewis or local ones? (Maybe it depends where you live!) I went to John Lewis the other evening and spent time wandering round their haberdashery department - heaven! But I resisted! I am waiting until I have some skills first and then I will decide on my first solo project.
I head home at the end of the month for 5 days and my Mum has said she'd be delighted to teach me some basic hand sewing techniques...I think she's pretty inspired to start sewing again!
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Jo

You've all been so busy making lovely things. I haven't made anything
.
I went shopping with my daughter yesterday for a dress to wear to the races and a wedding. She really likes a couple in Lipsy but I think she'll see loads of others the same at the races so I've volunteered to make her one. The trouble is I can't find a pattern now. Does anyone know of one that's strapless or one shouldered with the tulip style bottom that's sort of pleated up?0 -
Taking inspiration from the lovely 23rd Spiral I came up with this for my new Cath Kidston cup, a little cup coaster:

Made from old jeans and CK cotton duck - more photos you know where. You can stand there and agonize........

georgiabay (sorry still havent figured how you do quotes)
There is a tulip dress in this months Sew hip magazine and a while back there was a strapless puffball dress, i will search through my pile later a& let you know as you can order back issues or buy on ebay.0 -
Danables - Love that door stop - the fabric is gorgeous.
Kandi - Great coaster - I spotted some small bits of fabric in my stash earlier that would be ideal for those....I shall have to pop it on the list.
Today I faffed.....I brought a new fold-up wooden framed sewing bag at a bootfair for £1 the other day - was brand new but the cover was hideous so today was the day to make a new cover - easier said than done and I did over complicate things by making it patchwork....but am pleased with the result...
I then went on to have a play with shirring elastic and made this for DD1....was a bit of fabric I salvaged from an old nightdress but she's really pleased with it.....DD2 has just been rummaging through to see what fabric she'd like hers done in! I can see I'm going to be busy!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
