Morning everyone, I love everybody's work, I'm so jealous. I may be using some of my old jeans as it looks really good in patchwork and would recycle too :T
Well I finally used my sewing machine that I've had for about a year :rotfl:. My DH even used it before me to make a patchwork quilt for the sofa lol! I decided to make a new cover for a nursing pillow I have to give to my DSis. As it's a V shape I decided to copy the original cover and make it out of 3 pieces. The thing was that I cut one of the half back pieces upside down so I couldn't use it. So at 11pm last night I was pinning out a new piece :rotfl:. At least I didn't sew it together and then realise.
Anyway I did sew the two other pieces together and when I turned it over it looked brilliant. I'm so proud of myself. Now all I need to do it cut out and sew the last piece and then sew some giant purple buttons for decoration which I'm getting today. I'm hoping to have it finished for the weekend and I can't wait to see Dsis's face.
I've also got a fair bit of fabric left as I bought a metre so any ideas for using the scraps would be good. My Dsis does like sewing and knitting as well so I was thinking of a pin cushion. Also I've seen a door hanger to cross stitch so I was thinking of backing it with this fabric. Let's just see what this cushion cover turns out like first :rotfl:TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -

It was a two tone fabric with a sparkly effect that was a suitable weight for trousers/skirts etc. I paid a maximum of £4 a metre for it and later on saw the same fabric which was identical apart from the colour in John Lewis for about £13 a metre.
I save a huge amount of money by buying my fabric online. I rarely buy fabric any other way now.
There are certainly some bargains to be had by buying online but the downside is you can't see colours or handle the fabric first. The places that will send small samples are good. Remnant house is one company that will send small samlpes if you ask for them.

Thank you for this! The fabrics look so beautiful. Hope Everyone's well, my sewing has mainly consisted of getting my samples finished for my folder as my dressmaking course has just finished and it all needs handing in. I have got started on a maxi dress though ...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
