Sarah - that is fab, well done! It is quite easy isn't it if you just take your time, I think it really helps if you bond it first I imagine it would be a nightmare if you tried to sew it and it kept creeping about.

I am a complete novice at sewing, was scared witless years ago in school, the teacher used to shout if you made a mistake during our sewing class, but would love to make something.
Do you have a link to the pattern for your washbags?? am going away soon, would love to have a go, as long as it is reallyyyyyyyyyyy simple lol
    Thanks Debb xxx

I had the same problem with my sewing teacher and hated any sewing but I loved embroidery. Now I love it and learning as I go.
I follow a lot of tutorials that are linked on this thread (I have only been sewing again since just before xmas).
The bag I 1st started with was this one http://www.skiptomylou.org/2009/01/14/how-to-make-a-lined-zipper-pouch-tutorial/
I used and old shower curtain for the lining and it turned out ok.

I have made this too and I am going to make a larger one now I have got the hang of doing it :D

Hope you have fun with your sewing and dont worry :rotfl:
Get books from the libary and look at lots of tutorials too if you can (I read loads)

    Hi All

I made a doorstop yesterday and bought fabric (blogged about) I had a go at free motion quilting yesterday (just practising) I new it would be challenging but its going to be way more difficult then I first thought how naive of me to think I could master this quickly. The professionals make it look so easy! So I think my pillow might have to be straight line quilted instead!. Love seeing all your work so keep it coming!

I love your doorstop Danables :T
Keep going with the freehand quilting, it can only get better :D

I forgot to add another fabric seller I use (it has been on here before but not sure where :o) http://www.seamstar.co.uk/index.php?osCsid=4f1fda3b275f5a8fd68898b3882884c1
They have beautiful stuff and very nicely packed in tissue paper, I had some very nice ribbon from them too :D

I wouldn't worry too much - I think you'll find that professionals use a special quilting machine. If they don't own their own then there are places they can take them to be quilted as they are horrendously expensive to buy.

Made this yesterday from the book 'Bean bag buddies' that I borrowed from the library. I think I might buy it as the instructions were really clear and I think all the makes are lovely.
