morning ladies
I know some people are having trouble with tension on sewing machines and mine was playing up last night I have a brother the shuttle in a casing
here is a tip for the newbies
most problems are with shuttle and if like me you have one thats fits into a casing to check tension you should pop shuttle into casing and just hold the thread it should hang like a yoyo
if not and like it happened to me it runs away thats the problem.
Have a look to see if a bit of thread had got stuck in the plates (which i could take photos)
if so remove and it should be ok , no need to adjust screw . Its the second time this has happened to me since getting the machine 5 years ago. if you are having this problem and can't understand what i have typed pm me and i try and explain. I have tried googling it for a pic but can't find any0 -
I`ve made a new messenger bag for my dd. Its made in corduroy with a this wonderful Day Of the Dead fabric to line it.I`ve put in lots of pockets so she can use it for work.

Kandi, thanks for comments. The pattern was just made up as i went along , lol, the fabric , i bought it from www.fabricparadise.com
I always buy my unusual fabric from them, usually takes just over a week to arrive, and their prices are good too, much cheaper than UK. :j
My daughter will be taking it home to germany with her on monday, one of her friends over there loved her last bag i made and wants me to make her one but how do i work out what to charge?0 -
Thanks for the link. I would say look on etsy or folksy and see what sort of price hand made messenger bags are going for. It's always a difficult one as you put lots of time into it and the cost of materials.
I would think something like £18-£25 would be reasonable. You can stand there and agonize........

Great job Nuttywomen. Definately work out what the bag cost you to make and then add on some for yourself, I agree with what Kandipandi says.

Maybe think about how long it took you and charge the minimum wage per hour of £5.80? How expensive would it work out then?0

Morning all,
Nutty i love the bag well done. Wish i was brave enough to do pockets on the front!! I put my first magnetic clasp in a bag this morning and that was scary enough lol!.
I have a rare day off with the house to myself today so i was hoping to get lots of sewing done however after almost finishing a bag my needle has bent and i don't seem to have a spare one argggh!! looks like i am now going to have to go to the sewing shop and hope they have a supply of brother needles! Its my own fault for not getting some last time the needle bent!.V 12500 B 8300 N 1900 Oct £51/£1550 -
I`ve just looked on that website, they`ve only got a limited amount of that fabric left it left but they do have this one , works out at just over £6 a yard.

Might get some of this myself lol0
