Hey all! Im loving the quilt cuddles, Im trying to build up the courage to make a quilt. Im going to start with a applique cushion with a bit of free motion quilting before I tackle a full quilt, with bits that have to be 100% accurate!!
Can I ask you what batting you used for yours? It looks nice and cuddly just how Id like mine to be. Also, do I need a walking foot to pieces bits together? or is that for when you actually quilt it?! or can I just use my normal foot on the sewing machine sorry if i sound dumb.

I love the bag dizzytina and thats great use of your Cath K fabric kandi, one thing Iv lerant from all this sewing is that your fabric can go a long way if you are sparing and use it in small projects.

I really want to make a new ironing board cover but buying a metre and a half of fabric can get expensive- can anyone recommend a website thats a bit more reasonable? really dont want to spend £10+ a metre- but that seems to be the fabric the catches my eye!

Iv been busy making these hobbyhorses for the kids.:

would you really need 1.5m? most fabrics are at least 45" (sorry still dont work in metric), so the width of the fabric should cover the length of the ironing board, with you just needing enough "s to cover the width

i know when i iron my fabric after washing, i have to do one end of the fabric and then the other, as the ironing board isnt big enough to take the whole width of the fabric in one go

Dunelm, The Range or Ikea are usually a good starting point for cheapish fabrics, and they tend to have alot of styles that are Cath Kidston, and designers guild [STRIKE]copies[/STRIKE] inspired - or even Paul Simon, as they have ex display curtain panels cheap

Cuddles those quilts are beautiful - quality lasts!

LJM I have made some bits from the CK Sew book but by machine. I can't see why you couldn't hand sew some smaller bits but the bag might be a pain as that cotton duck is quite thick and when you get the the top bit you will be working on lots of layers and your poor fingers will be sore :(

thankyou for that will have a good look through book tonight and see if i can use this machine of mine :)

My quilts are Puff Patchwork. Each square is padded with wadding and then sewn together. All done by hand.
Thats why it looks so 'puffy' :rotfl:

Loving the Hobby Horses - did you use a pattern?

Oh those quilts are so beautiful Cuddles, and how lovely that you are able to pass them down to your daughter, you must be very proud, I can't get past the fact it's all hand sewn.

Kandi, where do you get your lavendar from and do you dry it before putting it into the bags. Just wondering how much I'll need to get Dylan to sleep through!

Danables I love the horses, we just sold Harvey the rocking horse as he was too small and I think this kind of thing would be great, did you use a pattern?

Can the person who's making the ironing board cover look into using a cheap duvet cover?

I couldn't ind the bag when I followed the link but had a nosey on the site anyway. Did anyone else look at the Lamifix? I'm really tempted to buy some but I am supposed to be MSE and I don't have anything I want to make out of it.

When you click on the link you need to go to sewing and then select denim bag :)

Perfect, I just ordered some. I'm planning to make some hearts for BIL wedding present and embroider (eek) their names and wedding date on the back. We'll buy them a present too buy can't afford to buy anything big so this will hopefully enhance the gift package a little. I'm thinking about a picnic backpack set but I'm really not sure, they don't have a wedding list and I get the impression that they want money but we don't give cash.
