Dizzytina, thats great news about your OH. I was made redundant in November and still havent found anything yet. Its starting to really get me down now but Im trying to stay positive and therefore sewing as much as possible in between job hunting to keep my mind off it.

Thanks for info Fruitloop. My bag is now finished (thank god!!) Its on my blog if anyone wants to have a look. The pictures make the fabric look scary but its actually really nice!! Hart, thanks again for that link. I didnt make it the same as her as didnt have all the right fabrics but the principal was the same. Really helped me, cheers. x

Dinah ~ :wave:Hello  and welcome to this thread! Please post pics of your stuff if you can as we love to have a nosey!

Dizzytina ~ I'm so pleased that things are turning around for you - fantastic news about your OH's job! Great news about fabric too, what a week, perhaps you should put an extra line on the lottery this Saturday!

Pootle ~ Sorry you have been arguing with your fabric again :rotfl:isn't it funny how something we do for pleasure can make us sooooo mad:mad:. It appears to have paid off however as your bag is fantastic!!! :T

I posted this on my blog but should also put it here, I found a use for a couple of those Yo-Yos I made from my scraps bag earlier this week, I made an ipod cover from a tutorial on Sew Christine's Blog (she is super talented - have a look at my blog and link through to hers, it's brill!), its the same tutorial I used for my blue phone cover that I posted a while back:

Got bored when I came home this afternoon so thought Id make something else. I had loads of fabric swatches that I got ages ago and hadnt done anything with them so cut 4 of them up into squares, chucked in a zip and made this make up bag.

    Love your ipod cover Kandipandi.

I found this to make. There's not much sewing to be done but it looks really eays and lovely. It is going to be so much cheaper to make than buy. They cost about £75 to buy new.

It cost £27.50 for 10metres of canvas which will be enough to make 3. The eyelets and press cost £3.75 which gives me loads.
The canes cost £2.69 per tent.
    The plastic rings 6p each.
Lacing cord was 63p for 6 metres (so enough for 2 tents).

The only thing missing is the rubber bands which I think I'll just get the OH to tie it with string because he used to be into scouting so tying knots and making things with garden canes is his forte.

I make that about £13.80 if I make 3 of them and about £40 even if I threw the spare bits away after making one. Lets see how it turns out before I celebrate though!

I wish I could just chuck a zip in! I haven't been brave enough to try it yet.
