Thank you for the lovely comments on my bag. The fabric is from an odd curtain I found in the remnants bin at a local shop lol!
Pootle ~ Hope your bag is going better and that your sewing machine is still in one piece!;)0 -

I have one given to me, still in the box, but I'm having problems with it. Sews beautifully on single thickness cotton but nothing else.
I've tried adjusting stitch length, tension and foot pressure, but I can't get it to work properly. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi, sorry I cann't help but just found a site you can download the manual and there might be a problem solver page on there?

Thanks Hart - have the manual but my problem isn't covered. Did find a way of emailing them from that site, and a UK agent though, so very useful. :TJack of all trades ... Master of none

I can't believe I never knew about this thread! Only saw it as it was on the MSE forums front page. I started learning to sew on an evening course last september, and I really love it, but never seem to have enough time. At the moment I'm waiting on knee surgery, which makes using my maching difficult, however I'm going to set it up on the high desk so I can use it stood up tomorrow, and I'm hoping to go from bag of fabric and notions to a finished dress by the end of the day (no small feat as the last garmet dragged out to a full month!!!).

Morning Fruitloop.
Welcome Dinah.
Fruitloop, did you stitch your wadding onto your main fabric? Its the first time Ive done it and had major problems. When I made the bag (my teacosy) you are doing I kind of laid it on then stitched it when I was stitching the bag together but this time I stitched in onto my main fabric first before doing anything else and Im not sure if I should have.....it stretched quite a bit so I had to keep chopping bits off then went really squint at one point. If anyone has any tips can you let me know as I think I definately did something wrong. :wall:
Am about to attempt my zip extension and shall report back later. Have a good day everyone.x0 -
Pootle ~ I sewed my bag outer and wadding at the same time. So basically I had a sandwhich of 4 layers, bag outer right sides together with wadding against the wrong sides. Thats clear as mud isn't it lol!:rotfl:
I had problems with this as the wadding kept catching under the machine foot. This time I used fleece and although it was stretchier it didn't catch in the machine, and gave the same finished effect. HTH I'm not very good at explaining.:(
I have never done a zip before so can't help with that. To me zips are scary!0 -
Also I pinned it to death which helped a bit to stop it going out of shape.0
