Thank you for the lovely comments on my bag. The fabric is from an odd curtain I found in the remnants bin at a local shop lol!

Pootle ~ Hope your bag is going better and that your sewing machine is still in one piece!;)

Has anyone got, or know someone with a Lervia sewing machine?

I have one given to me, still in the box, but I'm having problems with it. Sews beautifully on single thickness cotton but nothing else.

I've tried adjusting stitch length, tension and foot pressure, but I can't get it to work properly. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, sorry I cann't help but just found a site you can download the manual and there might be a problem solver page on there?

Thanks Hart - have the manual but my problem isn't covered. Did find a way of emailing them from that site, and a UK agent though, so very useful. :T

I can't believe I never knew about this thread! Only saw it as it was on the MSE forums front page. I started learning to sew on an evening course last september, and I really love it, but never seem to have enough time. At the moment I'm waiting on knee surgery, which makes using my maching difficult, however I'm going to set it up on the high desk so I can use it stood up tomorrow, and I'm hoping to go from bag of fabric and notions to a finished dress by the end of the day (no small feat as the last garmet dragged out to a full month!!!).

Looking forward to getting to know everyone x

    Morning Fruitloop.
    Welcome Dinah.

Fruitloop, did you stitch your wadding onto your main fabric? Its the first time Ive done it and had major problems. When I made the bag (my teacosy) you are doing I kind of laid it on then stitched it when I was stitching the bag together but this time I stitched in onto my main fabric first before doing anything else and Im not sure if I should have.....it stretched quite a bit so I had to keep chopping bits off then went really squint at one point. If anyone has any tips can you let me know as I think I definately did something wrong. :wall:

Am about to attempt my zip extension and shall report back later. Have a good day everyone.x

Pootle ~ I sewed my bag outer and wadding at the same time. So basically I had a sandwhich of 4 layers, bag outer right sides together with wadding against the wrong sides. Thats clear as mud isn't it lol!:rotfl:

I had problems with this as the wadding kept catching under the machine foot. This time I used fleece and although it was stretchier it didn't catch in the machine, and gave the same finished effect. HTH I'm not very good at explaining.:(

I have never done a zip before so can't help with that. To me zips are scary!

Also I pinned it to death which helped a bit to stop it going out of shape.

    Hi All,

I have been missing in action this week as i have been tied up making my brothers wedding invitations for his wedding! - 155 in total by hand. Nearly finished them so can get back to my sewing projects before i have to start doing his order of service and table names!.

I see you have all been busy:D

Some of you will probably know it has been a rubbish year for me so far with my nan dying and my OH losing his job but this week has actually been filled with good news for once . OH has found a new job paying him what he was on before :j He starts on monday. I also put a notice on freecycle to see if anyone had any fabric or sewing items they no longer needed and i really kind lady has given 2 big binbags full of fabric:T There is so much in there i have enough to last me all year. just have to start using it now!!
