    Hi Kandi, have mailed you.

Hart, I havent got it done this afternoon but link will definately will help me! Glad your head was ok Saturday!

Im back at my dressmaking classes tonight after 2 weeks. Making a summer dress although had to take all my darts out of the chest part yesterday as tried it on and looked like Madonna when she was wearing those conicle shaped things on her boobs! Think I must have done the angle of the darts wrong - certainly cant wear it as it is or may be arrested!! Shall percevere...:o

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have finished my bag but had to re-do the straps, silly me put them on wrong and they would have ended up inbetween the lining and outer fabric:rotfl:
it wasn't untill I had sewn around the top that I realised what I had done :o
The only thing I wish I had done was to put a fastener of some sort on the top to close it, never mind it's all learning :D

Kandi - those circles are very neat. did you really just cut by hand without cutting around the cardboard? you've very steady hands!

Oh, today i bought 40 small cream coloured buttons from a sale at a lovely oldie worldie craft shop. so that's 1/2 of the amount i need to finish the quilt, but i thought half matching and half random wouldnt be too bad!

Hart, love your bag!! Looks very professional and love the colours. Is the front part embroidered?

Edit: Oh, and did you use medium or heavy interfacing? It looks really sturdy yet light at the same time so keen to know what you used for future reference...

    Quick question please?
The piping you use for cushion covers etc, is it the same stuff you use on clothes?
    Thanks

I have just tried to use my new machine and I'm obviously doing something wrong with the bobbin and bottom thread. When I try to pick up the bottom thread its forming a loop around the spindle that the bobbin case fits onto. Didn't realise this at first and started sewing. It sewed OK at first but the thead was stained by the oil on the spindle.

I have a friend over the road who is a retired seamstress so I think I'll ask her to look at it tomorrow.
    :o
Just wondered if anyone had had a similar problem?

Hi Pootle, yes the front is embroidered (I have been embroidering since I was 12 but it's been a few yrs since I did any) and I used a medium weight interfacing on the main fabric. The fabric I used was from 2 sheets I brought from a charity shop, I loved the colours and it is a nice crisp cotton they reminded me of Spring, so fresh together :D

This is the 1st bag I realy took time over and Im pleased I managed to get the lines straight :rotfl:

I think next time I will add a magnetic snap ot a little loop with a button to keep it closed though.

Hart ~ your bag is fabulous!! Your embroidery is great it makes the bag so much more special that you have done that yourself.
If you are not happy with it being open could you not add in a zip with a fabric strip at either side, have a look at this link - I know its a messenger bag but have a look at the close up of the zip closure.

23rdSpiral ~ Does that mean we might see a finsihed quilt one day soon? *ducks* :D.
For my circles I drew around a cardboard circle and then cut the fabric with my rotary cutter, freehand but following the line I had drawn with disappearing ink.
