Pootle ~ hope you got sorted, sorry I can't be much help either I do need to see things infront of me too.

At the weekened I invested in a rotary cutter (I was quite excited as it was quite cheap - see my blog blatherings) and delved into my scraps bag to try it out and made some Yo-Yos. These are ideal for little off cuts.

I have not really decided what to do with them might make them into necklaces or brooches or perhaps add them to makeup bags - I will keep you posted.

Thanks again everyone. Going to try it out this afternoon.

Kandi, they are great! My rotary cutter is still in its packet although Im keen to start using it. I got an A1 cutting mat and a metre stick too so no more cutting squint lines (I hope) on the carpet!! Did you find it worked quite well on the circles? I was thinking of buying a die cutting machine to cut various shapes but might hold off for a bit. There is a pattern in this months sew mag for using yo yo's on cushion covers. Looks really good. Just a plain cushion with loads of yo yos all over it. Look forward to seeing what you end up making. x

Thanks pootle - I will have to get this month's mag. I was amazed at how sharp my cutter was and just glided through the material.
I must get a metre rule too and a large cutting mat, mine is A5, so I can only cut really small things :) It was quite good for cutting circles but I was a bit scared of moving all the time as I was afraid of chopping off my finger ends!

Glad to hear all your digits are still intact!!

I wouldnt buy the mag if its just for that. I can scan the pages in no prob and paste them on here or e-mail you them. Ill do it this afternoon. The Sew mag isnt generally that great TBH. Its good for the 3 for £3 deal but not at full price IMO.

If it doesnt look like its working I might take the easy route and put in magnetic snaps instead!!!

    They are lovely Kandi :T

Did you make a template out of card, or just cut round things?
Have only used my rotary cutter for straight lines.

Cuddles ~ Thanks, they were good fun to make. I did cut a template from a heavy card and I used them to draw the circles on the fabric before cutting. I dont know if you can see in the top picture two card circles top left, I thought I would do it this way and keep them so if I make more they will all be the same size.

Im back at my dressmaking classes tonight after 2 weeks. Making a summer dress although had to take all my darts out of the chest part yesterday as tried it on and looked like Madonna when she was wearing those conicle shaped things on her boobs! Think I must have done the angle of the darts wrong - certainly cant wear it as it is or may be arrested!! Shall percevere...:o
