Love the pickled bums Pootle, what a great idea/find :T

Ive just discovered a fabric shop on my doorstep :o it sells EVERYTHING :rotfl: just brought a huge bag of lace, ribbons and fancy elastic for a £1 and some off cuts that will make 3 patchwork cushions for a £1 :D.

Im now thinking if I should be more adventurous and start makeing clothes esspecially summer trousers as I have a job to buy them in my leg length (Im only 5ft)
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Im beating you then! Im 5ft 1 (and a bit!!)
Im sure Burda have lots of clothes patterns you can download for free. Never used the site but have heard a few people in my class talking about it. Good news on your fabric shop! Wish I had something like that here. Everything in Edinburgh seems to be really expensive. Anyway, Im off for a girlie weekend a bit later so happy sewing everyone and catch up next week! x

    Hi everyone,

would it be ok for a new person to join to learn please? I think the only stitching ive ever done is cross stitch, im back enjoying that now but id love to be able to sew proper things (if you get what i mean) simple things so that maybe a could make a cushion?

Also it would be great if anyone could help on this thread too?

Wow - some lovely things and some new faces - welcome everyone :D

I have been playing with my machine and made this

    P1050293.jpg

Doll is made from a sock like the monkeys and I made her dress from a tea towel.

Thinking of trying a bag, but only ever use 2 handbags, so not sure if I'd use it ;)

Also made a Crayon Roll for grandson

Have experimented with more tea towels to make a bag.
Will have to add handles and a nice button later.

This gave me the idea, then I adapted a Rag Doll pattern from Sew Hip for the clothes.

Tea towels are from Yorkshire Trading and Home Bargains.
