Dizzytina- so sorry to hear what you have been through lately. I love the sock zebra what have you called him?- he has such character!

Love the bag mooloo. Clarbur95 that cushion is fab- I want one!

Well done everyone- Im going to post some pics on tomorrow of my latest makes (including the evil bag I had problems with which has turn out quite nice but still waiting on decorative buttons to finish it off)

I have bought some lovely buttons in Hobbycraft! Thats where I got the ones that or on my coat. (Pictures were on the other sewing links on here).
Trying to get good ones in charity shops are not so easy these days.:D
    Glad you liked the bag.
I want to make a few and see if I can sell them at a craft fair or something similar one of these days. :D

  • dizzytina - so sorry to hear all your bad news, thinking of you:grouphug:

Well I've been the same as everyone else, can't seem to come up with anything new to make. Think I may have lost my mojo:p

Anyway I decided to have a go at making a reuseable sandwich bag and me being me I just winged it:naughty: I used the inside of a rice crispie box for the waterproof lining and some nice fabric I already had for the outside. I think I need to practice a bit more and maybe follow some instructions:whistle:
    And not one straight line!:rotfl:

When I need to line something that needs to be waterproof(ish), I buy Mr T's value line shower curtain, and cut those up. They are quite good value. However they were 87p last year when I first got them, and the last one was £1.50 I think! So the costs obviously vary depending on where, and maybe the time of the year? Still good value.
For towelling, if I am just doing odd bits, like bibs etc, then when I get my grocery delivery from Mr. A$da, then I buy thier smart price Bath towel at £1!!!
Dont really notice the additional £1 on my food orders!.

Hope some of you venture out a bit, and have some good ideas soon

How about Fleece hats? They are easy.
Then there are simple a line skirts, or childrens clothes?
Get inspiration from looking at the big pattern books in the likes of John Lewis or debenhams. Sometimes you dont need to actually buy a pattern, looking at the drawings on the bag will give you an idea, then you can google it on the net and see if you can find something similar.
I wish I was more mobile, I would travel around and help!! Maybe one day!.

    Happy sewing

With the sandwhich bag would it not be better to have it sealed? Maybe with Velco across the top? To stop the sandwhiches drying out?
    Just a thought?

Mooloo, you just gave me an idea for my grandads 80th. He is bald and his head always gets cold so think maybe I should make him a hat!! It was he and my grandma that bought me my sewing machine so he would love it if I made him something with it. Im not sure what material I would need to get but shall go and google and see what I come up with! Great idea!!!

Edit: Could I just use a fleecy blanket that you can get quite cheap in shops?

Keep an eye out in the £1 shops too. Maybe a wide scarf could be utilised. Check your pattern dimensions, and ALWAYS CARRY A TAPEMEASURE WITH YOU. (For the rest of your life, its always handy, for all sorts of occasions!).

99p store had some scarves in yesterday that looked like the burberry style check. The fabric from them might make a mans hat
