Hello I really could do with a bit of advice. I'm saving for a car and want to put my sewing skills to good use. I'm planning on selling this dress on ebay any idea how much you think i should sell it for just by looking at it?

Its difficult to say as just depends who is looking at the time. I would be inclined to search for similar current listings and fancy dress ebay shops to see what the competition is doing (also use the completed listings function to see what previous listings have sold for.) I would also wait until October before listing as there will be loads more people looking at Halloween time. I think its looks great though (did you make it?)

Hi folks! Great thread may I add! I have just purchased my first sewing machine after using my mums for a few months, I am hooked! I bout one from an online site, a Toyota one and it will arrive tomorrow! I am sooooo excited! So far I have taken some jeans up which were too long and made a small bag, I have also replaced the laundry hamper, you know the ones with two metal frames and a plastic inner, well I had some old scraps so I made a new inner with ties, bit of a mish mash and I had problems attaching the botton to the sides but no one ever sees the bottom of it!

Sorry for waffeling but does anyone have any sites they can reccomend for projects that are useful, have googled a lot the past few weeks but that right site that suits seems to elude me! Thanks in advance :)

There have been so many great links on this thread. I suppose it depends what it is that you are trying to learn to do? Plenty of people on here for advise. Some really great ideas too. Have not managed to sew, been away for the weekend. hope to change things around later in the week. Bought a blouse in a charity shop for £3 that I want to use to make my mum's other handbag for the wedding at the end of the week. So I must make time!. I think she goes away on Thursday.

have been buying the new Sew magazine. Its £5.99 each month, but it has some great patterns on it. I think that it might interest you, and your daughter. This months issue has a wrapstyle dress, skirt and peplum style blouse. I got mine in WHSm, but have usually bought it in Mr T, bigger shops too.
Good luck with the sewing. Its great to see so many people beginning to take sewing up again!.

Hi thanks for the reply, yes i did make it. It costs quite alot to make though so thinking it wouldn't really be viable to make. I'de have to sell it for around £30 to make it worth my time and i just don't think people would spend that much.
