Stardrops, your angel is beautiful. It matches your bed perfectly. You must have a gorgeous home with all your stunning creations!
Do you have her springtime book? I'd love to make her chickens and geese (we keep poultry here!) in fact, I'd love a Tilda home altogether, I love all her stuff.

    Hi Alimarcle

I'm afraid I don't have the springtime book(well that's another one for me to buy:D) I would love a Tilda home as well, the stuff is gorgeous, very feminine and girly:D I have to admit I did buy the fabric for the angel's nightgown to match my bedroom and luckily it was Tilda fabric;)

    Hi everyone!!!
I also need a sewing machine but not got a lot of money right now... Anyone recommend a machine for under £100 that would be good for a beginner?

My sewing machine was donated to me by my MIL and is quite old and basic but great for learning on. I see a lot come up on Freecycle so might be worth asking on there. My plan is to buy a new one once I'm a bit more practiced (and rich) and know what I want.

Yes, it's a good one. It's on my list to buy as I had to take it back quick as someone else had reserved it. How rude!

I've had a peep at your blog and I think your sock monkeys are brill. Where do you buy your socks from? I have a feeling 2010 may be the year of the monkey for me! :p

lol I'm afraid my blog is quite neglected and not as lovely as yours:T I buy my socks from various places, if I see some socks that I think will make a good monkey I usually buy them which is why I have piles of socks in my craft room:D But I have found the best ones for sock monkeys are the packs of ladies socks from Tesco without a doubt;)

  • My lovely OH surprised with a sewing machine on christmas day :j

I'm totally new to sewing but I've looked at a few of the websites posters recommended (prima) and I've found a pattern for a draught excluder which will be my first project once I can sew in straight line! I tend to flit from different crafts but I've got lots of time off in January so I aim to use my present...

Wow what a fantastic gift:T I will have to have a look at the Prima website as a few people have mentioned it:D

From the looks of it, they have a good range of projects for novices to experienced sewers (?) or seamstresses? oh I don't know what the proper word is!

  • Can I please join this too - I have been trying to join since the thread started but as it prompted me to actually join the forums (instead of lurk) I had to wait what seemed like ages to have my membership activited.

I love sewing but only do basics as I have 3 small children. My biggest project to date was making 32 superhero capes for my eldest son's 5th birthday party at the end of November, I stupidly lined them all too!

I can't seem to find the bit on the prima website with patterns, can anyone please point me in the right direction? I got a huge bag of fabric remnants from Freecycle before Christmas and plan to make lots of things for gifts this year, especially as my children love home-made items (their sock monkeys I made a year ago are still their favourite)

Well I finally got off my laptop and made something:j I have been wanting to make one of these "goodnight angels" for ages, except mine doesn't have any wings so not technically an angel:rolleyes: It was really fiddly to do but I'm quite pleased with it now it's finished. It is from the "Crafting Christmas Gifts" book by Tilda:D

Absolutely stunning, right i now have 12 months in which to try and produce something like this (if only), an angel would look lovely on my nieces bed, Will go and have a look on amazon and book depository for the books you have mentioned. I got the readers digest book in my local charity shop yesterday for £1.50 and that should give me the basics. Still got to start my Cath Kidston bag as well.

  • Please can I join in!! There's 2 things that immediately spring to mind that I want to do...
1 - take in a tunic I got off ebay which is huge, but I figure if I can take it in a few inches each side it'll look fab
2 - make a cushion for my bedroom using a beautiful flowery batik I bought in Tanzania a couple of months ago.

However (apart from here, and I will read through it all for links and stuff) I'm not quite sure where to start!

PS Stardrops42 those sock monkeys on your site are incredible.. something for me to aspire to!!
